Flash Delirium is SOTY, c/d?

I didn't know (or care) who these MGMT people were until now. Looked up the song on Youtube. Just terrible. I know some of you have seen them live, but I just can't envision how their songs would play out in person.

smh

Exactly. Green Day's got the same style as Beatles. I doubt they'd revert back for RB3.
I hope they do, because TB:RB song selection + hundreds of songs = disaster. Yeah it looks nice, but it's horribly inefficient.

How so? It does everything the RB2 selection screen does, just offering more information upon highlight.

That was probably a design choice based on the amount of songs that were going to be in the game.

Wow, this is the most intelligent and well thought-out sentence I've ever seen from you. I am mighty impressed.

True, but how do they implement the friend leaderboards without having to add an extra step?
Take advantage of widescreen.

Exactly, which is why I don't want the same system to be used for a game with 10-20x the amount of songs.

Well, sure it was designed for TB:RB, but I'm sure it could be easily adjusted. Just cut down on text-size, and all the random pretty crap that TB:RB had.

Something something scaling down content for SDTVs

SDTV: TB:RB song selection
HDTV: RB2+ song selection

Everyone gets their friends leaderboards.

I am a PS3 player, I'm not a fan of segmenting the populous.

I need to know when the RB/RBGAF word list gets approved for iSketch. Then I'm all over that!

I hope "hayleyshrug" is on there.
I actually submitted a word list to them the other day...consisting of every song title and band found in Rock Band (and Beatles and Green Day and Lego). Sorry, no other words in the list. If it gets approved, I'll be running games with it...

Oh, and it won't be easy...just how do you draw a favor house atlantic?

Ozzy and Motley Crue are to co-headline this year’s Ozzfest tour of America.
Ozzy and Motley Crue are to co-headline
Ozzy and Motley Crue
in-fucking-credible....and not for any on-stage reasons...more because the last time this happened it generated the stuff of legends

I can't wait till the list gets approved. I'm ready to join the action when it does.

you guys are missing the point*

the beatles rock band has the music of one band in it: The Beatles

green day rock band has the music of one band in it: Green Day

Rock Band 3 (by the time of its release) will support the music of over 450 artists...

innovation is required - REQUIRED!

I can't say I know how Harmonix can make it better... but they need to.

***Edit
DuckRacer isn't missing the point... he knows what I'm talking about.

Be cool there, my baby. I'm sure HMX will use TB/GDRB as the foundation for RB3, so it will work just fine. Hell, I have no real problem with the way RB2's song selection is laid out. Except for, well, the lack of stars.

I will not buy RB3 if it does not have a song selection GUI as elegant as TB:RB.

Get rid of the album art and put some information that matters there.

Bam, I just fixed the quickplay menu.
Yeah because we can remember every song in our 500 song libraries just by looking at the title. Genius idea there, buddy.

Guys, it's going to look exactly like the RB Music Store, but with quickplay leaderboards and stars. Anyone expecting it to be any different is sniffing model glue.

You can't see the album art until you hover over the song. At which point you've got music playing, the title and the band. You really need a picture to help you remember?

Replace the score field at the minute with stars. Then remove (or simply reduce) the album art field and put high scores for the song there.

It'll probably just be like the RB store download, which is fine, although it does feel like a lot of space is wasted.

can't they at least have a collapsible list of just the artist names?

scrolling through by artist is cool and all - but you have to either go page by page stopping to look over each artist - or you go through them song by song and get to Judas Priest and have to scroll through an entire album and then you get to Foo Fighters and have to scroll through five thousand songs etc. etc.

this is an easy fix and I don't think I'm sniffing model glue to expect the option to scroll through JUST the artist names without seeing EVERY SINGLE SONG that they have in the game.

Just have collapse-able categories. If you're listing by artist, just have the artists shown until you expand their list, if you're listing by song title, just have the alphabet shown until you expand, etc.

Oh, and DEFINITELY allow for custom lists, not just playlists, but a custom selection to appear 'above the fold', so to speak (so a 'party mix' can be set up, or a 'favorites').

As for showing stars? Simple, have them ghosted behind the score...for bass, just have it fade back and forth between the two scores (and be able to list by bass stars as well).

However, since we can already sort by stars, this is a very minor concern (except for bass) assuming that all current scores will accurately carry over.

My number one requirement is being able to see ROWS OF GOLD STARS. No fading in and out bullshit, or having to go to the song to see the stars. I like Beatles (and dislike GH5) for this reason.

But I do think RB2's general layout is better for a game with 500, 600, 700+ songs in it. If they would replace the score with the stars and maybe have the score appear after you've hovered on it awhile, I'd honestly have no complaints with RB2's menu. Just get rid of album art and put the friends leaderboard there.

birdman said:
How about having the leaderboard fade in on top of the album art after about 5 seconds and stay there until you go to a new song?

Works for me. Honestly, I'd be fine with them just making it a button press. Hover on a song and press orange to see the friends leaderboard, and then let me filter more/switch to overall there. Removes the clutter but keeps the functionality.

Hey Harmonix. Yeah you, I know you're listening. Let me pick a difficulty before I get to the quickplay menu, yeah? And an instrument (if I'm using a guitar)? We good? You see the problems this would avoid?

Your pal,
David.

RB3 should have no sorting or categories and holding down the strum bar shouldn't work for scrolling. You'd have to tap it for every song. Also hitting up shouldn't go to the bottom of the list. Songs appear in different, random places every time you boot up the game.

Shittiest idea you've had...unless you're just talking about for the sake of showing point scores, in which case a simple 'press orange to toggle between scores' would make more sense...but selecting your difficulty/instrument before you choose a song? Fuck no.

(I'm really hoping that's not what you meant)

now THIS I can get behind....hell, might as well just not have a song list...make it always random..just hit quickplay, and you're instantly into a song.

Today should have been a wonderful day...my biggest day of the year.

Living the 20th Anniversary of Rust in Peace was a too beautiful dream to be true...I would give away Korn, Guns n Roses and Stratovarius for this...this was the concert that really mattered to me...

I cant fucking believe that I live in the only country of all the RIP Tour where Megadeth had to cancel their concert...

My ONLY true consolation to this destroyed dream would be if we are part of Iron Maiden's Final Frontier Tour.

Some quick wishes that come to mind for RB3

- Count how many hours of my life I will spend with this game...in my case it will be scary. Count how many times I hit my pads, how many times I choose each song, how many times I 5-star a song.....

- Give something little but special when I play my 1000st, 5000 song....just like when Smash Bros gives you something when you play 100, 500, 1000 vs matches....etc....

- The possibility to change voice effects mid song for vocalists....I want echo for "running, scrambling, flying!!"

- I want freestyle drumming in songs to sound actually like the song it is playing. Just like in GH.

- Rhytm Guitar.

I'm done playing RB for realzies until RB3 comes out. just cause I know all my scores will not be transferred over to RB3. Wonder how long its gonna take to re-play 1000+ songs.

One thing I would like is to have the crowd sing-alongs be more loud. In the default settings, sometimes I can barely hear the crowd singing on some songs.

This same thing goes for when I play bass. In some songs, I can hear the bass just fine...then there's other songs when you can barely hear it. I want it like in Guitar Hero...where you can hear the bass 100% of the time.

I hate outdoor festivals, too. So fuckin' hot here. I do love the people who try to maintain how "cool" they are in extreme heat

I so love it when it rains at festivals. So bad ass.
I don't mind the heat but I mind the rain, it get's all sticky and I end up having a cold the next day.

Not ripping on the way you play the game, but I just have to say that I'm so glad I don't care about the numbers or the stars or any sort of complete list...they're neat and all, but a task like that would just be horrendously daunting. ...and then to have it completely dictate when you can play the game again.

You guys are crazy. Game is still fun, see no reason to drop it. I do care about scores but not enough to just stop playing until the next game comes out.
