I don't think I have been this hyped for something since I was a little kid knowing I was getting the NES for Christmas. :D

HMX have fucking delivered. I cannot wait until the MS press conference.

MS conference is for their natal dance game :P.

Guns N Roses fucking suck.

Can't wait to see whoever their guitarist is playing realtar at the MS event.

Appetite for Destruction sucks?

MadCatz stuff is expennnsive. Hopefully it tumbles like their other stuff did - need to buy a new drum kit and the keyboard. That'll only cost 2 million quid.

Edit: Uhm... DS wasn't a mistake in USA Today, it's coming to DS.

Set list creation and song selection has been completely revamped. It’ll be easier to find songs you want to play via advanced filters, which we knew about from the USA Today story. But did you know you’ll be able to hide songs you don’t want to play? And find songs you may not know about via a song-recommendation system that will “suggest tracks from Rock Band’s colossal music library, based on personal fan preference”? You’ll also be able to save set lists and share them with friends, both in-game and via RockBand.com.

So awesome!

That is brilliant. It is near impossible to sift through the music store now due to the overwhelming amount of content. DLC sales just shot up 500%.

Like I said earlier, they basically took all of the request lists that people had made and decided to lose their fucking mind and simply do everything on them. Man, that extra year must have been a boon to Teasedale and his team.

I'm pretty psyched as well. Odd though. Was just talking to my bud and bassist in real life. We used to play RB and GH together all the time. I mentioned about pro using real instruments and he didn't give a shit. :(

Time for a new friend. Anyone wanna be buds? :lol

I don't like how he dodged this question:

Between all of the instruments, with three singers, and with all of the different instruments, you'll be able to have up to eight players playing at once. You shipped a USB hub with Rock Band 1. If people haven't upgraded to an all-wireless setup, are you guys going to be shipping a USB hub for any of the new instruments or microphone kits or -- I guess the keyboard's probably wireless.

I tell you, one of the most amazing things about the deal we signed with Mad Catz is that you now get to ask them all those questions. I want to focus on core hardware peripherals and the software. Sure, all of the USB hubs that have worked will continue to work. But in terms of the wealth of peripheral peripherals, those are questions you should direct to Mad Catz.

I would cream for Visions on realtar!

Ugh, that would be even more of a fucking nightmare. :lol

Shag, are you getting new everything for RB3?

These announcements and the World Cup have killed my productivity...Fuck school!

You will be autotuned confirmed. At least they're also fixing the input vocal settings which was my #2 request.

Talking about, kind of, redoing the Rock Band platform and rethinking it, did you spend a lot of time on vocals? I know complaints about the earlier games have been in regards to voice recognition, that basically as long as you're saying something, it's fine. Have you guys done much work on that in Rock Band 3?

Yeah, actually, we focused a lot on the singing experience; not just bringing over harmonies, which is a big thing and played into our track selection in a pretty big way. But also, we have revised the way we do note detection and also non-pitched vocal parts; we've also added some technology just to help people sound a little better, we've looked at the game structure and the whole chain of balancing out volume and input volume and output level. We've added some technology in there that does some pitch correction on your vocals. We're trying both to try to improve the gameplay side of things so that it's a little smarter, and the intent from the player is a little more clear, in terms of our scoring mechanics, and then also on the output side, we want to make singing as accessible as possible, and so there's a lot of technology in there that's designed to make you sound better.

I'll be getting the keyboard bundle, the pro cymbals to add to my RB2 kit, and a realtar if it's lefty-friendly (even if I have to restring it myself).

I might hold off on the realtar and get it for XMas if it's $300ish, like I'm thinking it might be. Getting the rest would be under $200, but I can't just drop $500 on RB3 on day 1. I mean, I could, but I think the wife would get upset.

That's kind of what I am thinking. I'm going to pick up some Ions before hand and then later in the year get a Realtar.

Nah, she's really fucking cool. I doubt she would get that upset. :lol

I'll wind up getting the keyboard bundle (or just the game and then the keyboard at some point), RB2 drumset with cymbal expansion, and a mic (all I have is a guitar right now); the RB2 Strat is fine for where I want to take the game. Graduation and Christmas should net me some good shit, and I'll probably just ask for all that stuff.

I think it's a smart way of being able to teach the instruments in a natural way.

Speaking of, there is like no reason to not start out on Easy Pro for keys; being limited to middle C for normal gameplay is just too restricting.

I gotta go full guitar. I don't need any of the other peripherals so that'll be enough for me. Too bad I can't use any of my actual guitars though :(

Think I'm going to bang some RB out this weekend. Haven't played in forever. Dust off the cobwebs, fail a bunch of stuff I shouldn't...

think about the fucking value we're getting. we used to get one guitar track and one bass or rhythm track per DLC, then we got vocals, bass, guitar and drums, now we have those plus keys, pro keys, pro guitar, pro bass, and pro drums.

GOT DAM

and we get to learn how to play it. it will teach us the songs. for the same price (unless they raise DLC prices which I doubt). god damn, that's worth so much more to me. incredible.

So I'm looking at RB2 drum kits on Amazon, since I'm going to have to move back up from the RB1 kit. I can get the standalone kit for $94 shipped... or I can get the whole bundle for $91 shipped.

So I'll probably have a game and guitar to get rid of at some point....

Even after sleeping on it, I still can't decide. I really don't want the halftar. However, I think the tuning aspect of the realtar will piss the shit out of me in the long run. The only way around it is turning the receiver up super high and manually drop d'ing when needed.

Shit like that is fine since it takes two seconds. I'm not going to drop the whole thing down to E flat though.

Take the game back to Walmart. That's how I always get away with buying so many guitars. I buy the bundles on amazon when they're on sale then return the shrinkwrapped game with the whole "oh sorry I lost the receipt" schtick.

So in pro guitar mode, how do you think wrong notes/fuck ups will be handled?

It would be neat if instead of the "you suck" scratch effect, they could actually output the note/chord you played.

Eh, I'm not Costanza, I don't really like lying to get discounts. Plus I'd have three guitars now, so I can dump one of those with the game on Craigslist for maybe $35-$40 instead of just getting $20 back.

Yeah, like I said, I'm wondering how they're going to handle the tuning issue. Also, a minor issue in the scope of things, but those guitars don't have 24 frets... they fail.

In before everyone gives a list of guitarists that use Fenders

I like this idea, if they're going to try to make you play "acutal" guitar, then you should be actually learning which notes are wrong.

I'll get the keyboard bundle and give my current cymbals to a buddy and get the new set, but I'm going to wait and get more impressions on the two pro guitars before I decide on getting one(or both!) of those.
