Rockstar Games reaffirms that GTA VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, composed of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.

"Equal parts" Vast majority is that RAGE cutscene engine I bet, just like how the cutscenes are in V noticeably distinct from gameplay. Still looks damn good anyway.

Every millisecond of the trailer looks surreal and now they're telling me this is running realtime on ''standard'' PS5...

Absolute psychos.

That gives me really hope the PS5 version won't be shit.
I've said it already on an other thread, GTA VI is THE game that will define this console generation.

go look at gta 5 on ps3 again
no open world game compares to that one
no idea why people are surprised. they're wizards

Yup and the people asking for "gameplay trailers" need to shut up and see that Rockstar is cooking.

They have never showed a "gameplay trailer" for anything a except a few months before release, not a year out.

GTA V trailer 1,2,3 none of them had "gameplay" perspective in it.

It's like these people have never actually lived through a Rockstar marketing campaign.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me wonder how many people in this forum have actually witnessed even a tiny chunk of industry history. You see this same behavior in many other similar threads as if it wasn't always like that.

I think this has cemented them as the industry benchmark for technical achievement on console hardware. They were getting there with RDR2, but this is head and shoulders above anything we have seen. Could the big guns at Sony (SSM, Insomniac, ND or GG) match this? I'm starting to believe there has been some major breakthrough over the last couple of years in the amount of juice they can squeeze out of this generation. First that intergalactic trailer seemingly running at 4K60 native with RT reflections (still mighty suspicious). And now this.

If ya playd GTA 5/ RDR enough- the way the game transitions from Cutscene to gameplay is seamless- its essentially the same thing.

So was this...

But I believe the game is gonna look that good and actually the sad part because that means diminishing return is so big this gen that $2B is what gets you an actual big leap... I mean, there are games that could clearly not run on PS4 but you have stop and analyze a little OR it's evident in specific places only... For example, Expedition 33 in the dancer axon temple looked way beyond anything I've seen from last gen (hell, the whole game), but there are many places where it looks just like the PC version of a very good looking PS4 game

We already had tons of these "in-game" trailers, some of them even were long gameplay demos, which turned out to be as fake as fake can be. It doesn't mean anything

TikTok generation baby

And I'm still perfectly fine with this trade-off in exchange for a 60fps industry standard.

I feel like the last few iterations were running on the current gen hardware. So it doesn't really surprise me. The Pro, hopefully, gets everyone that 60fps bump.

Isane fidelity and density but at this draw distance is just pure magic, add all the simulation depth on top, like how is this even possible. Legit mind blowing but I expected no less.

I'll take a stab:

0:23 - About to switch over to control Jason.

0:33 - The jerkiness movement of the arms looks like gameplay. Not fluid enough to be a cutscene.

0:38 - Kind of hard to say but this feels like in GTA V when switching characters, a character was in the midst of finishing up something and then you take over. This feels like that here. After his reps are done, it's possible that you take control of Jason.

0:41 - Jerkiness again to where it feels like about to take control of Jason. Homeless guy's movements outside the store also feels like a gameplay sequence.

1:37 - Jason in the car - his mouth doesn't move naturally like it does in cutscenes. Stiff, which suggests gameplay.

1:53 - This could be a special skill rather than a cutscene. Again, Jason's movements suggest it's an input command you did here to shove the guy into the car. Just a guess.

1:57 - I want to say this is gameplay for Lucia. It reminds me of the Matrix UE5 Tech Demo back in 2021. Perhaps Rockstar is taking advantage of graphical fidelity similar (or even greater) than this.

2:07 - Look at the black guy on the right. Not cutscene fluid. He moves like how an NPC would during gameplay.

2:28 - Hard to say, but the Bike's fire from the back looked gameplay-ish.

Based on my conclusions, it looks like a majority of the 'gameplay' shown is from Jason.

Edit: Watching some of the DF Analysis and they zoom in on stuff early on in their video showing what looks to be movements of characters outside of cutscenes.

Can someone point me to the gameplay in the trailer?

See the above quoted message Hudo Hudo

Well, these milliseconds of "gameplay" are nice I guess. But I need to see some seconds of uninterrupted, player controlled stuff with the HUD visible. I guess these videos will come in 2026, like the did for RDR2. But R* saying that they are showing gameplay here feels more like they're trying to gaslight people, tbh.

lets hope there will be no input lag in controls like RDR2 had on consoles. I dont want to wait 1 year to play it on PC like I did with RDR2.

This. RDR2 plays like absolute dogshit on console. It is a completely different game on PC. GTA V was not like this, so I am hopeful.

Thats what they say NOW. But when the game comes out it will look downgraded. Then they will say you'll have to buy PS5 pro to play it. They're like drug dealers, these guys.

I just watched the DF breakdown. This is the expected generational leap. (outside the Raytracing -which even DF didn't expect this gen to have- ) the trailer shows how "LAZY" the entire industry has become

To be fair, Rockstar and GTA haven't done HUD and gameplay-perspective trailers since... GTA2?

By the time of GTA3 and the 3D cinematic visuals, it was almost always a face-on view of the lead, or the cinematic camera, and always with the HUD off. Remember these commercials?

You could say that the very first GTA3 showing was "gameplay" in that it did show punching and shooting sometimes from the play cam. However, the HUD was still off and it wasn't really showing how you play, it was just showcasing cool ways you could kill or drive in the game.

(Also, you did not see this trailer probably, as this was 2001 and video media was still hard to get, both in homes on slow internet and also in the media from guarded publishers not giving hi-res video promotional material to the press before YT made trailers a cashprinter. The earliest video of GTA on the old IGN archive is marked as October 18 2001, just five days before the game came out.)

We do not care about rockstars marketing campaign.
A:"This is bad"
