Rogue Trader Might Be Near Perfect

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I've been begging for a Rogue Trader game for a long time before the game was ever announced.

It has finally become reality.

One of my all-time favorite genres in video games is the "space exploration" theme. I'm a huge fan of games like Star Control and Starflight but I always wish you could explore the planets on foot.

So came along Mass Effect which remains one of my favorite series.

One of my favorite tabletop games is Warhammer 40,000. I admit I'm still kind of new to it so there's a bit I don't know. I got into it about 10 years ago.

So now we have a game that mixes one of my favorite tabletop games with one of my favorite video game genres.

This is near perfection.

I have some minor gripes but overall this is what I wanted.

We need more "fly around in spaceship and explore planets on foot" games. It's the shame this is such a neglected genre.

Can't wait for Dark Heresy. Day one purchase for me.

It's one of my favorite genres of video games, man. I can't believe the lack of Mass Effect style games today. I thought that they were the future of video games, but 15 years later, it's the only real attempt at a grand scale, space opera, action-rpg.

I realize that I forgot to mention the Bethesda game Garfield but I heard it's pretty bland and not a very good attempt.

Expanse game from Owlcat is coming next year I think. I am really looking forward to that since I love Expanse and been digging Owlcat since Pathfinder games.

And yes, I fully agree with OP, Rogue Trader is amazing and is one of the best CRPGs out there (behind Pathfinder though 😉).

Expanse might be pretty good but there probably won't be much in the way of exploring other worlds or alien races. I binged watched a few years ago and it sucks it got canceled when it was starting to get really good.

I'm hoping the game takes place after the show so we can get more insight to what's happening.

I think it's going to be set during the time of the show, but they talk about it in one of the previews.

I do hope they do well enough with the first game where a series might roll out, ME style.

I think it will be a good narrative and creative challenge for the dev team.

A part of me wants it to give the feeling of Riddick: Butcher Bay, where you know there's more space and planets out there, but the setting, story, level design, and encounter design is so good that you don't need them.
