Koei Tecmo recently celebrated the Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ 30th anniversary with a special event for the series, where they announced the latest title, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. [Thanks, Game Jouhou]

While no details on the game were revealed at the event, Koei Tecmo announced that Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII will release in Japan on December 10, 2015.

If you want this localized you should probably buy Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence

I remember playing part 2 in high school, that's like 20 years ago.

I'm glad the series is still alive but I'm too old for these type of games now.

Is XIII like X where role playing had a bigger role (heh) in the game?

XI was too "tactical" for me and that was the last one I ever played.

Well that's actually my hope, not fact lol

I just realized it and did another ghost edit, looks like I failed haha.

I loved X when I was younger, and I still remember all the theme songs.

Hell X was the reason why I got into Dynasty Warriors. The two goes hand in hand. Technically DW is a spinoff of RoTK

I also played it when I was younger, though I get into Three Kingdoms stuff the other way around that is from DW3:XL. RoTK X gives me so much fond memories because how atmospheric it is. Playing the game was like being transported back to that era mainly due to the music alone. I'm still humming the Traveling track occasionally.
I was sad to see that removed too, hopefully they make this game more like NA Sphere of Influence than the previous ROTK
Is there any impression on Nobunaga's Ambition? Is it good?

In Japan NA was well received, the latest ROTK not so much

Is the PC version a port of the PS3 version again? If so they can keep it.

considering that KOEI PS4 versions are ports of the PS3 versions, thats not really shocking, you want a port of port?

Holy shit. I mean, I don't think I ever even played a nobunaga's ambition before, but I'll pre-order the fuck out of it if it means KT localizing this.

Junior, please.
No Vita? Its official...

Hope this comes over. Remember the SNES fame fondly.

What's official? That the Vita is dead?

Two things. One, did anyone expect this on Vita? And two, you should not really be expecting anything to come out on Vita at this point, anything that does is a blessing.

Vita is still going to be a primary home for otaku and local multiplayer games. This game fits neither category, so it doesn't say much about it. If the Vita were to miss the next Dynasty Warriors game, then it'll be time to be worried about it.

Nice. Haven't played an ROTK game for ages so hopefully it'll get localized.

Perhaps it'll be released on Vita on a later date like the Japanese version of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence.

Ah PC release in japan ? W-whats going on here ?

They've all had PC releases AFAIK. Koei and Falcom seemed to be just about the only publishers still doing PC last time I was there, but I got the impression it was still a market there.

I still treasure my PC RTK9 with PUK. I can't read as much of it anymore, but it's still very playable and the PUK features are pretty neat (dynamic officer generation is pretty awesome).

I'd love if they could release some of the back catalog (7, 9, 10 especially) on Steam, but it's probably really difficult to retranslate those old games nowadays.

Ah Romance of the Three Kingdoms. There is a name I have heard in a while. I remember playing the fuck out of the PS2 games with 7 or 8 I think being my favorite. So I would love for this to get an English PC release on Steam.

Would be even better if they can release multi-language version on Steam. I used to play this game series in its traditional Chinese format and it was awesome!

Official site is here: http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/sangokushi13/
Let's see the details...
Human Drama: It will feature Officer POVs, and builds drama by raising bonds with other characters
Spectacle: Epicly drawn battle scenes
Dynamism: Maps of both whole China and each city insides are contained in a single huge 3D map

....wait a minute... Officer Play...? as in like VII, VIII & X??

Alright, this is it, this is the ROTK game I've been waiting for. Will do my best to hype this hard

Officer POV/RPG mode is all I needed to hear.

Mighty interested.

With Nobunaga actually coming out in the West, will be pretty cool for Koei-Tecmo to release this in the West next year :D

Wonder what the odds are of this getting a Xbone release in EU and US like DW8 did. Been a long time since I've played one of these.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. On phone and copy pasting all the quotes is a pain so apologies for not doing that.

Honestly I would really love a grand strategy game like this on the Vita. Really with my commute I end up getting a lot of time sink games on it (like RPGs) so something in a strategy genre would be warmly welcomed. The Vita could support a lot of games and genres, its just that a certain class seem to be more economically viable that sell well to a certain audience.
