About the game:

Previews are starting to come out based on people getting playtime at Gamescom and PAX:

The game is looking really good. Hopefully people won't sleep on it. I'm sure if this one does well they'll remake Romancing SaGa 3.

I was already sold on the initial reveal trailer, but I am glad to see previews are positive for it. Can't wait to dive into it!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Game looks amazing. I love the original, but it's the definition of punishing. I laughed when I saw that the difficulty selection in this game is "Casual", "Normal" and "Hard (Classic)".

I thought square enix said they will support Xbox with all their games yet this one not coming to Xbox

The Just Like Gems guy seems to have had the same experience with the series that I have. Good to hear. I'm gonna buy the shit out of this.

The was about the multi-platform strategy which they said the'll embrace going forward for most or even all (?) future titles.

This Romancing Saga 2 remake launches on PC, PS4, PS5 and Switch, which means they're following through on their multi-platform strategy promise.

After playing the remaster from a few years back...I will argue that RS2 was a great game, both in terms of the ambitious generational scope, which was way ahead of its time, and the variety of unique experiences the player can go through depending on choices. For a JRPG, it was very generous in terms of non-linearity and letting you wander around. Managing to do that while still providing the game with a certain amount of flavor and storytelling color was an accomplishment. The Seven Heroes also had their own bits of personality (and I think there's a fair chance they might develop that more with this remake).

Still, they definitely needed to make the systems more transparent to the player. SaGa games in general tend to be rather unorthodox with obscure mechanics and hidden values, so making sure that's more visible and easier to understand is a good thing.

It also helps that the new 3D graphics are pretty nice! While I am more of a fan of late 80s and early 90s anime character designs, these are sold reinterpretations of the original work.

This looks really good and it's great to see the Saga series getting some proper love and a decent budget for a change.

That said, this last third of the year is absolutely crammed with other JRPGs that I want to play first, even the release month (October) has Metaphor and Ys 10, so this may fall through the cracks for a lot of people which would be a shame.

I'll 100% get this personally to support the series, but it'll be at least 3rd on the list to play that month alone.

Crazy year for JRPGs, we are eating good so you can't complain!

Looks great.. never been a big saga fan but this looks to change things up for the better. The music seems like its going to be fantastic to boot.

It reminds me a bit of Demon Slayer in the fact that the Emperors are fighting a powerful foe over generations, similar to how the Ubuyashiki clan fights Muzan over generations.

Nice. SE should just make their new games with this kind of visual. You don't need to make cutting edge graphics for the games. Just give us great story, music, and gameplay

I wouln’t have batted an eye if the SNES version woulf be considered Nightmare difficulty instead of hard.

The Seven Heroes end battle filtered the fuck out of a teenage me.

Will I be granted the chance, as a filthy casual, to complete the game after 30 years?
