The story of Snow White just got more colorful. Disney is developing Rose Red, a live-action film centered on Snow White’s sister, EW has confirmed.

Pitched by Evan Daugherty and based on a script by Justin Merz, the film aims to put a new spin on the Snow White fairy tale by inserting Rose Red into the story and making her a key player — along with the seven dwarfs — in the quest to wake her sister from a death-like sleep.

Tripp Vinson is producing.

For those who don't know, "Rose Red" is the sister of 'a' Snow White from a completely different Grimm fairy tale, but hey, whatever.

How could they, man? CGI budget through the roof for a show, too badly oversimplified for a movie. It's something that only works as a comic in this day and age.

No, she is her lazier, less together sister. In Fables.

In reality Rose Red and the Seven Dwarves are two totally different tales that just happen to share a character named Snow White.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you all know the story about.

I'm gonna bet they are just going to pull her connection to Snow White and her backstory out of their asses. She will ONLY be named Rose Red(and be Snow White's sister) because there is a story where that is so, but this will NOT have any connection to THAT tale more than it will Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Probably just another Disney Princess to add to the collection.

Being heavily into fairy tales as a kid, the key differences other than Snow White(of the Seven Dwarfs) being born of royalty and Snow White(from Snow White and Rose Red) being somewhat poor, is that the Snow White that was the sister to Rose Red was named so because of her fair hair(she was blond). This is also why Rose Red was named so(she was a redhead). The Snow White of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was named so because her skin was white as snow, though her hair was black as ebony.

By drawing lines from things to other things, like it's some fuckin' conspiracy(and so smart), it just seems lazy to me. You could only bank so much with existing Disney Princesses. Might as well make some more to add to the list. Though, why stop there. There are a lot of different fairy tales Disney has yet to tap into. How they haven't even done a Little Red Riding Hood or Rumplestiltskin is beyond me. Though, knowing how people connect names, some genius is probably saying, "Yeah, Red Riding Hood is also Rose Red!". Dammit, someone's gong to tell me Fables did that too!
