Here's my problem, I have a router (D-Link DI-604) and when I set it up it works flawlessly for a while but then it stops working for no reason at all. I won't get a connection to my pc nor my xbox or the connection will always reset on my router. What could it be? Bad cables in the house maybe?

Do you have DHCP between the router and your ISP? The ISP may be changing your IP address, and the router may not be adjusting. Or, are you saying that you can't get two of your PCs to talk to each other on your intranet when the problem occurs?

My SMC router kept doing that. No idea why. I replaced it with a Linksys. It was a POS anyways. Worst router software ever.

Alright now, seems to work but now the thing is the 2nd connection to my xbox live isn't working properly.

Everything's working and my speed is fine, even hosted a few games on xbox live and all was well. All I did was switch some cables and got rid of some extensions. Hopefully it fixed the problem for good, we'll see in the upcoming days!

I had a DI-604 and after a while it started act like you described. Then it got worse and worse like I couldn't communicate with it etc. and now the thing is in the trash bin.

You just got it? I bought a 604 in march or so, and the 4th part just took a shit and stopped working completely about a month ago, so I'm on 604 #2 within 6 months. I had a netgear before that that worked fine for 2 years +. Only reason I bought the dlink was because of Xbox Live.

Nah I got it last year but I gave up on it for a while since I wasn't playing on xbox live that much but now with NHL 2K5 and Halo 2 coming, I need it.

Man that blows, it's too late to bring it back :(

I have this one too, I had a similar issue for awhile but it was the cables not the router, they kept falling slightly loose.
