Rovio earnings report - 200 million people playing Angry Birds monthly

I can't figure out how this got so popular.

It's one of the few games (with actual gameplay instead of just timer countdowns) easily found on a mobile device amongst the uncountable mountains of trash trying to hard sell some sort of in game currency.

€75.4m in revenue including merchandise? What is the big fuzz about it then?

It would also be interesting to know for what they spend all that money (EBT-revenue) seeing that they are so small and dev costs are supposed to be so low. Marketing? Investments? Haven't followed them too closely.

Thanks for posting.

For comparison, any 60$ game would have to be able to sell 1.257 million copies WW in order to generate such an income.
70% of €75.4m = €52.78m ~ $68.92m = 1.148m copies or am I doing it wrong?

That would not be revenue of the developer though. For smaller devs it shows you can hit it pretty big all things considered (and if you happen to make that one huge thing). But for big devs like Nintendo or Activision, which make equivalent "classic" gaming hits, this would be chump's money of course.

I know and have you seen all the Doom clones devs keep pumping out!?
New ones? No, but I sure would love to play them.
