RPG Average Time question

djtiesto

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Alright, after what seems like 3 or so months, I *FINALLY* beat Baten Kaitos. The clock at the last save point was just a little over 59 hours
man, that battle with Geldoblame that happens in the middle of the end sequence is one of the most pointless and unnecessary battles ever, especially after the hard as hell "real" final battle with Malpercio
. So yeah, now it's that time to dig through the backlog. I'm making good progress through Metal Gear Solid 3 and Linkle Liver Story (the latter seems like a rather short game anyways), and aside from seeing Ferry Corsten in NYC this Friday, don't have much to do this weekend, so...

Now I'm wondering, to those who completed the following games, around how long did it take you to beat them? And if you don't mind recommending an order to play them in...

-Breath of Fire:Dragon Quarter (this is probably gonna be my first pick, my ex girlfriend and a lot of people on this board rave about this game)
-Atelier Iris:Eternal Mana
-Phantom Brave (started this, about 3 chapters in)
-La Pucelle Tactics
-SMT:Nocturne (Played a bit of it, and although I really liked it, the supposed insane challenge later on in the game scares me off)
-Growlanser 2
-Growlanser 3
-Star Wars:KOTOR (I hear a lot of good things about it, I thought Jade Empire was OK but I have no interest in Star Wars whatsoever)
-Wild Arms 3 (sitting on my shelf, still shrinkwrapped, since Xmas 2002)

My goal is to finish most of this list before Radiata Stories in October and DQ8 in November. I doubt that's happening.

Phantom Brave my final game was around 100 hours. But I loved that game and played the dungeons a lot. I'm sure you could molest it in way half that time.

Kotor..I don't remember..but it definetly was around 30 hours I think. Totally guessing.

Grandia 2 takes 35 hours if you play it leisurely (ie if you talk to every villager a billion times, take the time to explore, play extra stages etc). But if you go straight for the story, you can probably finish in 20-25.

Baten Kaitos in 3 months? That sounds right. My end clock on it was ~64 hours and I spread it over 3 months. There are times where I really didn't want to boot it up.

I haven't finished Atelier Iris yet, currently working on it.

KOTOR is great. The dialogue is excellent but the combat could be hit or miss for you. My end clock was ~45 hours both times through. A chunk of this was just messing around with the dialogue options.

Phantom Brave: ~65 hours. I played around with this one a lot as well. Random dungeons and such.

BoF: Don't remember my complete time for this. Above 35 hours. Can't remember exactly though. Brilliant game. Absolutely brillaint.

La Puccelle: Can't remember my time on this one either. Not as good as Disgaea but fun nonetheless. Darker storyline, not as much humor.

I still haven't touched Growlanser yet. Before the end of this summer though.

Haven't finished many of those, but I'll do my best to help out:

Took me around 23 hours total, which included around a dozen SOL uses. If you were to play through it without using the SOL system, it'd probably take somewhere around 15~ hours the first play, and under 10 for repeat plays.

This one varied:

On Light Side, doing most everything in the game, as well as listening to most of the side dialogue, it took me around 47 hours.

Dark Side, again doing most everything in the game, but this time skipping everything but story related dialogue/scenes, it took me around 27 hours.

The main thing is the dialogue, as there's just so freaking much of it. The same thing happened in Jade Empire, which had well over half the game dedicated to VA. Bioware is fucking crazy, I swear.

Don't have the save file for this anymore, but from what I remember, the clock didn't record battle time, so it wouldn't be too accurate anyway. But if I had to guess, I'd probably say around 45~ hours or so.
