The remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is real and could arrive as early as 2025, according to insider eXtas1stv

He speculates it could be revealed at The Xbox Direct in January:

According to previous rumors, the game is being developed by Virtuos studio, will use the Unreal Engine 5 and will arrive for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Writes a lot, says very little
I actually thought this reveal would be this year lol

I remember a lot of us thinking they would announce this spring of this year after the whole Starfield release

Day 1 regardless

Seriously, why would they skip Morrowind and go for Oblivion? Morrowind is the best game of the 3 most recent ones.

Popularity.

Thats like asking why GTAV got remastered before GTAIV or why MGS3 got remade before MGS1

Sir...your feelings on that game is irrelevant lol "best" is subjective. We have people that think RE Code Veronica is the best, folks that think GTAIV is the best....

When have you seen a company remake based on cult status or feelings vs actual, objective sales? This being remade before the first 2 should never shock anyone, that is like acting shocked that Persona 3 was remade before 1 and 2.

You know why its happening man lol I think a good majority of us know why Oblivion would be remade first.

And here is where they lost me. "Ideal" choice of engine for an open world game. Bets are accepted on "Traversal Stuterring" and other of our favorite diseases, this will also negatively affect mods for the game, since their development for Unreal 5 is much more difficult, and most importantly, they are much more demanding of hardware.

Watch it look better than Starfield.
Well, you don't even need to put in much effort for this, it's enough to just throw free assets from the Unreal Store into the game and it will already look better than Starfield. The question here is not how it will look, but how it will work.

If your PC can run Stalker 2 fine then you will be okay. If you're on console then get used to playing at 30fps.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
I'd much rather it just be a modern Creation Engine remake. I don't have a problem with the graphics of a game like Starfield, especially with the better art direction in general of Elder Scrolls.

I guess you could say I’m shallow when it comes to games; I don’t like playing many old games because I think they look like shit graphically by today’s standards.

I watched some videos of Oblivion and yeah…it looks terrible. So my interest will depend entirely on how much of a graphical glow up the 2025 version receives compared to the original. I’m not interested in exploring an open world if it’s ugly.

If this remake has a high-budget and is using the Unreal 5, it's possible that it'll look amazing. I hope it looks dope, so when TES6 comes out, people can make jokes about how the remake of Oblivion looks better than the new game.
Too bad new coat of paint cannot change the fact Oblivion is a vastly inferior ES game to Morrowind.

Hope the rumour is true, Oblivion, while not my first Elder Scroll game, it was the game that made me a fan of old Bethesda and when i started using mods for the 1st time, great game.
