Rumor: Titanfall also 720p?

Well said. Graphics do matter whether people want to admit it or not, otherwise they'd still be playing with a NES or PS1. There are plenty of great games on those systems that can still be enjoyed today. It's all about the games right? As long as the game is fun, graphics don't matter right? Next gen certainly isn't for you, your current console of choice should be all you need, plenty to play and plenty of 720p.

I guess I am one of those picky people that just love 1080p and am looking forward to 4k so it matters to me.

Nobody is saying graphics don't matter but is just one part of what goes into making a game.

Yes graphics do matter but is not the deciding factor for me. Yes it is obvious that the PS4 will have the graphics edge but I don't think it will be that big of a difference and because your console is capable of better graphics doesn't mean Sony will automatically win the next gen.

If graphics was the only deciding factor than you should buy a high end PC and upgrade it anually to make sure you can run the latest games at the highest possible settings.

I hear you and I agree, graphics are not everything. And no, graphics do not mean Sony is going to come out on top. The Wii dominated last gen for example, though I think we can all agree that circumstances were different, such as price point.

I console game only, I don't have the money, the time, the desire, nor the know how to upgrade a PC either. As such, I'll be picking the console I can get the best graphical experience out of for my games. Judging by the past 15 years of video gaming history where graphic debates are common place, I won't be the only one either.

Has is it been confirmed that CoD Ghosts is running at a native resolution of 1080p on the PS4?

Didn't you get the memo? 720p is fine. Upscaling takes care of all our visual gaming needs, anything higher than that is a waste.

In fact the the entire videogames industry has agreed to stop the foolish pursuit of high resolution gaming. 720p is now the defacto standard for gaming. Nothing more.

From this point forward any game rendering at a higher resolution than 720p will be rejected for certification at MS and SONY. Steam will also refuse to house any game that foolishly breaks the new decree.

720p. It's just good enough.

The game will be just as amazing wether it is 1080p or 720p. Sorry but graphics do not make a game.

So when you have two console that plays the exact same game but on one it has better graphics and it's cheaper the choice is obvious unless you're a fanboy or care about exclusives. The difference between 720p and 1080p is pretty noticeable even DF won't be able to spin this shit.

Yes. Cable looks fucking horrific compared to Blu Rays, console games, PC Games, Netflix Streaming, and just about everything else.

What an idiotic statement.

Yeah, no. Whatever you think you know about cable TV is obviously wrong.

I don't know what cable provider you have, but most channels are going to look better than anything streaming.

comparing cable TV to PC games is just bizarre.

Cable/Satellite in Canada (at least out west Bell Sat/Shaw Cable) looks like JUNK compared to streaming.

Watching a hockey game on Gamecenter Live is clearer than TSN HD for me.

As for a cable to pc game comparison, agreed. Bizarre.

Titan Fall is when Next Gen really starts.

I don't agree. Sure, Titanfall looks like a stupendously awesome game but its a cross-gen title running on source. Doesn't exactly scream "beefy graphics" to me. It looks like your main criterion for next-gen is 60 fps, which I'm sad to say means you're likely to be disappointed more often than not this upcoming generation.

Say what you want about them, but next gen really starts with KZ:SF and Ryse.

I'm not arguing that but when you take everything in to account Xbox One is the better choice for me will it have the best graphics no but neither will the PS4
PC will
. Also you won't be playing Titanfall on the PS4 in the near future it is at least a year or two away.

Also don't forget about the power of the cloud either. :D

No, it is not obviously wrong. A good stream off of Netflix or Vudu looks much better than most cable and satellite broadcasts.

Also, the initial comparison was console games like CoD to soap operas on ABC...

How is me reiterating the comparison any different?

I view everything on the same device, (PC, Console, Blu Ray, Streaming, HD DVD, Cable, etc.) so why should PC games be left out?

And really, that's all that matters.

I dont get some of you, I mean come back to reality.

720p is the perfect resolution to play games. Beefy graphics, 60FPS, AA enabled, Vsync on. Why get an inferior experience at 1080P where devs might dumb down certain settings to make the game run at that resolution?

Titan Fall is when Next Gen really starts.

WHAT??? They're are launch games like "Killzone: Shadow Fall" & BF4 that look way better than Titanfall.

Microsoft doesn't have time to worry about the Cloud. Their declining PC, tablet, and phone sales are coming first.

PC is a whole different beast were talking about consoles. Your choice of console is tied to exclusive and it's okay but don't act as this difference in power and price won't matter because it will.

Hate to break it to you but my cable TV is set to 1080i, Netflix is 1080p

oh lord. as if 720p video is equivalent to 720p videogames.

720p video is essentially super sampled. if you took 8xSSAA 720p games and scaled them up to 1080p they'd look a lot better than the end result we're going to get. or another way of putting it. upscaled DVDs look a SHIT LOAD better than upscaled PS2 games. for the same reason.

I agree with him. This whole FPS thing is getting out of hands as well.
Do you think movies look bad? Because they're 24fps.

ABC in particular looks horrendous. Extremely obvious when you watch basketball games on TNT then switch to an ABC broadcast.

Agreed PC is different beast but it will always have the best graphics. My choice is more than just exclusives although it can be factored in. Price won't matter to me hoping my PS4 preorder will supplement the $100 difference.

You aren't required to jump with precise timings, track targets or react to on screen prompts in films. It's hardly a like for like comparison.

Cable/Satellite in Canada (at least out west Bell Sat/Shaw Cable) looks like JUNK compared to streaming.

This is true for a variety of reasons. Cable/Sat providers engage in a lot of recompression on the feeds they receive in order to fit more channels onto their network without having to increase bandwidth capacity. Lots of programming like live sports are also compressed in real-time to begin with resulting in a certain amount of degradation.

Meanwhile, Netflix and other streamers can perform more sophisticated offline compression of their content. They also only need to transmit 24fps for film content, rather than a 60 frame/field per second feed like TV. I got caught up on the last season of Fringe recently on Netflix and it was incredible how much better their Super HD stream looked than the original broadcast.
