Ryzen 4000 in laptops - worth the wait?

I need a new laptop which will be mainly used for programming and maybe some indie games from gamepass. I was about to buy thinkpad t495 but i remembered that amd releases new cpu this year and it seems to be much better than the current one. Do you think its worth waiting extra few months (they say new thinkpads release Q2) for the performance boost? Will the amd laptops still be cheaper than intel counterparts?

I'm also waiting for the 4000 laptops to come out, they are looking good.

Worth the wait if you don't desperately need a new one now.

Yeah it will definitely be worth the wait, and if we go by what's been in the past AMD options are always cheaper then Intel.
Personally I'm looking forward to 4800U laptops .

How much are you willing to spend? I have an Acer Nitro 5. It's good and not expensive at all, will run any 2D game and most 3D.

Asus laptops are pretty good too. Good build and you can find nice configurations.

GAMETA GAMETA Not sure how much. The cheaper the better, but probably max 1500 eur. I want something that is not built from plastic and doesnt look like those gaming abominations.

Yeah, well, the Nitro 5 is a gaming one, hahaha.

It's not too bad in terms of design tho... it also can go unnoticed if you keep the keyboard leds off.

The thing about it are the specs VS the price.

You'll be getting an i5 8/9th gen with a GTX 1060, 512Gb SSD + 1Tb HHD for $750... the version with a GTX 1050 and 256Gb SSD goes for $600-ish

The best and prettyest laptop on the market? No. But it's a little beast for the price :)

For 1500 euros I'm pretty sure you can get better options, tho. That said, it be hard to find great specs (if you want them) outside of the gaming niche.

i'm waiting the 4500u or maybe the 4800u(if it's a six-core) mostly because of the IPC and clockspeed jump of zen2.
