Developer GSC Game has sold enough copies of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 to make the project profitable. The company's investor Maxim Krippa said this in an interview with Forbes.

Details.
  • When asked how many copies of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 should be sold to make it a commercially successful project, Krippa answered: “We have already sold enough to make the project profitable.”
  • He did not disclose the amount of investment in the game. “Of course, it's tens of millions of dollars,” he said.

I did my part. I'm only 10hrs in but the game has its teeth in me. It's so good. I know the games aren't direct adaptations, but as a huge fan of Tarkovsky's STALKER, the atmosphere and ambiance feel like an expansion of the world and universe established in the movie. Nothing in the game feels like it's out of the realm of possibility of what could exist within The Zone from the movie.

The best news!
Ultimate Edition here. Fantastic game. #2 this year for me, only surpassed by surprise banger Indiana Jones.

Should I wait for more patches or is it in a good place now?
I'm playing on XSX right now and haven't encountered any glaring issues that deter me from continuing to play. Some minor stuff here and there, but nothing that doesn't resolve itself or isn't fixed by reloading. For the most part, it looks and plays great on XSX with HDR and VRR. I thought the performance mode looked very ugly initially, but realized HDR and VRR were turned off. Made a few adjustments and the visual experience improved drastically.

I bought the Ultimate Edition and don't regret it. I love the franchise and never thought a sequel would come. Already finished the game and was left satisfied, will revisit after they patch A-Life and other stuff. The game has bugs, but STALKER has always had them. If you're a fan, you're used to that...

Sad to hear how this half-ass game actually made a profit. This is going to encourage the same kind of shoddy practice from other studios.
I, for one, am happy that this wonderful game made by a studio that went through what it did, and lost so much has made enough money to turn a profit.

Looking forward to playing more of it tonight!
