Why is the voice acting industry in the West like this while in Japan it's so much better? Is it Western greed? What's the story here? I remember when these people wanted to get % of the game's profit.

The funny part is that voice acting industry is also a mess when models are involved.

But by and large, the western game dev and especially USA turned into a weird Hollywood like mutation where big established devs (or famous ones) started to feel like they have the right to shape the public perception. While asian and eastern developers are developing the games, not the ideas.

It's way too late for that. Big corpos won't listen to the demands and will rely on AI even harder or pay some nonames to read the lines. The 1% of popular voice actors like Troy Baker will sign their own deals and land on their feet no matter what happens.

A strike like that works when you can't get the job done without the tv/movie actors or writers. You can still do it without the protesting voice actors.

Oh boy, first it happened to the movies and that's why some promising ones were moved to next year or farther away. Would suck if games get delayed now too, sigh.

I really doubt it will have the same impact. Unlike with movies, with games is much easier to replace the voice actors with other ones that are from different english speaking countries. You don't by games because of specific voice actors. Although for Insomniac it will be harder to find comparable woke actors as the ones from US.
