Shipped or sold? No, I'm not tracking Gaming Side dirt all over this nice OT rug, I'm seriously asking.

edit: goddamit Kano

and...that isn't reason enough?

No not really. especially when you consider posts like.

That's it? How cute.

I mean we all know Apple out sells everyone. It just reminds me of when a new MMO comes out and everyone immediately wants to shoot it down because it didn't sell more then WOW. Just because vanilla Ice Cream sells more than every other flavor doesn't mean it's better. It just means it sells better. Apple is the vanilla of smart phones. It's great, it's easy to use, and everyone knows what their getting when they buy one. That doesn't mean it's better.

Nice it's doing well. I really like the items Samsung has been rolling out as of late, at least in the tablet/phone market.

In all seriousness, Samsung has built a very reputable and respected brand in the US and internationally, combine that with a novel product & good marketing and you have a success.

Apparently, the Note is amazing as a phone and a tablet. Samsung deserves its success.

Quoting Apple sales now, especially on the 3rd iteration of a popular product, is as relevant as when BlackBerry nerds and Windows Mobile enthusiasts were posting sales numbers of their devices in the early Apple days.

That is only one phone Samsung makes.

Nokia sells more phones then anyone. I guess their phones are better.

Why bring fanboyism in this topic? A product selling better doesn't invalidate the fact that the Note sold well too.

Jesus, there's a lot of salt directed at Bob's post. overly defensive is a two way street, it seems.

And I'd say the Note is unique enough to at least look at comparisons. Sure, you can buy lots of different Android devices, but the Note kind of sits in a spot all its own.

Android is currently outpacing monthly new device activations over iOS by a roughly 2:1 margin and that margin is increasing. Android has already won in phones.

I would still buy Apple stock though even though I own a Galaxy Nexus, their profit margins far and away outpace anybody making Android devices.

Point was, comparing the iPad 3's launch to the Galaxy Note's launch was pretty low. Now iPad 1 vs Galaxy Note would have made more sense, discounting that one can (kinda) be used as a phone versus the other can't be (again, kinda).

It takes time to build a brand, kind of like the Galaxy S2 outsold the first Galaxy out of the gate, and the GS3 has the mills buzzing more than the S2 ever did.

Fuck that phone is beautiful. I jumped in at the GS2 launch. Hopefully they keep the line around in 2014 when my contract is up.

When did you get the Galaxy S2? 3 year contract?

Youre right. It would be the end of 2013.

8 core phones by then.

I've had all the iPhone models and the iPad (1). The ipad is nice but I never brought it with me anywhere due to size/weight. Subsequently it never really got used much.

The iphone screen really is laughably small, especially considering it's more of a pocket computer than a phone. This ultimately became too much of a hindrance in my enjoyment of the device.

I was actually planning on buying the iphone 5, but then apple farted out the 4s so I had to look elsewhere..
After thinking long and hard about it, I decided to go for the Galaxy Note in november last year.

As of now it is my favorite gadget of all time. It really does everything I want, and it's always with me.

I admit that I thought the Note would bomb hard. However, excluding Apple, the Note is the phone that I heard the most positive buzz of, exceeding the Galaxy Nexus.

I have a galaxy s (first galaxy) and being an early adopter has embittered me a bit, with the problems associated with it. But the note is so fine, I just want a device with a really good stylus. The upcoming 'suite' update is sooooo appealing. The idea of handwriting recognition, and shape recognition for note writing... umph. It would be great for all those classes where I have to remember software dev diagrams.

Funnily enough I was just playing with a Galaxy Note at a Telus store today, while my friend was fighting one of his bills. It seemed speedy and functional but it's just way too big for me. I draw the line at anything over 5". Anyways, good on them for the sales. How does this compare to the Galaxy S2 sales?

The 4S did 37 million over the holiday period. But 5 million for a niche Android device is pretty damn high.

For comparison, the GS2, which the Note is just a supersized version of, had sold about 20 million within a year of launch. It's very, very stupid to compare the Note to an iPhone's sales though since people literally have one option every year for a new iOS phone while there's dozens of different Android devices. I don't think anybody would have thought that a 5 inch phone could sell this well though no matter what operating system it had.

37 million iPhones, not just the 4S. Not that it isn't still a huge number, but let's be fair.

37 million? WTF is that worldwide? Cause sure, I see a good number of iPhone 4's but nowhere even close to where I can believe that number. Boggles the mind

My Galaxy is still going strong a couple years on so I might snag one of these instead of a phone upgrade and use it as a small tablet. It will no doubt be far more portable than my asus transformer and will offer alot more function than my regular Galaxy. Pretty hyped for June to arrive and my contract to be up.

you can't put a price on sparks
theres nothing wrong with a stylus. just needs to be acceptable to use as a regular touch screen.
