This is such an overreaction, just because it can tap out at a high number doesn't mean EVERYTHING will be that high, I've seen mastering monitors at 2,000 nits and demoed 2,500 nits displays, what the higher count does is actually allow the brightness range to be more realistic and natural, yes the centre of the sun is going to be 2,000 nits but everything else will then be spread across 1,000 nits on average with only the peaks going above that from bright lights to stars in the sky (which against pure blacks looks amazing). What the higher nit count allows is a more natural range of brightness in the image.
