Sarah Palin book signing: interview with her supporters

old but still classic. I love how they love sarah palin because they can't stand the thought of a black president but don't know anything about her.

I saw this video a few weeks ago. This is truly disturbing. I can see people supporting the fact that she might run in 2012 if they agree with her policies... but the fact that they have no idea about many of her policy standpoints is frightening.

Her book is terrible. I know because I read some of it because my Floridian grandparents bought it and my granddad is reading it currently.

Maybe she could borrow our internet filtering policy.

Here's hoping you Americans keep Palin's 15 minutes alive for a few more years yet- she is an endless source of entertainment

America: Getting run into ground because people don't know shit.

I wonder if she knows that socialists killed the last Czar...

I've been meaning to do a documentary style tour through America and just have a good couple hours of questioning like this, then put it up on youtube.

Mark my words, I shall do it some day GAF.

Partially Money and partially equipment. Somewhere in between 3 months and a year from now, probably in the spring, I'll definitely have the resources to take my tour.

Plus I need to be able to afford a few terabytes of storage to record everything in 1080P. You can capture the drones repeating what they heard from Glenn Beck Savage or FOX News so much better, so the subsequent Brain Hemorrhaging feels that much more real, although I'm fairly certain it's actually cognitive dissonance.

Practice d00d. Use your cell phone if you have to.

I've never understood people who pretend to know a lot about politics. I just admit that I don't know shit and these people should too.

It was amusing at first but it's not really funny after you come to the realization that their vote is just as relevant as your own.

There should be some kind of mandatory testing required in order to vote. If you can't answer some simple questions about the candidate you're trying to vote into the Presidency, you shouldn't get to vote.

It can be argued that such tests are a dangerous precedent but I have to wonder whether or not it's more dangerous for millions of people to blindly follow someone who they literally don't know the first thing about.

After Obama was elected, there were about 5 or 10 people in my Facebook feed that started spouting off like this. I haven't talked to any of them since.

Do all of these interviews follow the same pattern?

Why do you like/support/whatever Palin?

- Freedom, Liberty, America, no Czars, no Spending.

Could you be more specific?

- Mmm... No.

Why don't you like democrats/Obama/politicians not named Palin?

- Wild theories, Abortions, Czars, Spending

Could you be more specific?

- Mmm... No.

I couldn't sit through all of that video...I had to turn it off a minute or two in.

Why are people this willingly stupid?

Oh my, im not American, and this is just sad. Voting for someone just because? Goddamn all those people said the most ridiculous shit. I know all these types of videos get the worst of the worst, but still these people needed to educate themselves.

I didn't know you could get elected on a freedom of speech platform.

Is she against rape? Because that's a dealbreaker for me.

Because they echo alot of talking points from Right Wing radio and opinion shows.

Well I know this isn't true or else Obama wouldn't have been president, but still, goddamnnn what stupid ass people!

Enough to vote people like George W. Bush into office...twice.

Man, I hated hearing the woman say that her right to be Christian has been reduced. I think she's misinterpreting the idea that Christianity is being "oppressed". Honestly, it's so common to see that, where people are so used to Christianity being on top that being equal is somehow unfair to them.

I'm by no means a conservative or a Palin supporter...

But most people are not very well educated in political issues, unfortunately. I don't think it's just Sarah Palin supporters.

You think most of the people who voted for Obama were closely familiar with his policies? I kind of doubt it.

There's a herd mentality, and Palin has her own little herd.

That's what's more worrying, the general situation. It sort of ends up as a bit of pot luck as to who wins an election. Sometimes you get an Obama, sometimes a W Bush.

- More of the same, big business, Washington insider

Could you be more specific?

- Mmm... No.

meh, most people have no idea about the actuayl policies of the people they are voting for

same thing with Obama, they was an "interview" that presented McCains policies and said that they were from Obama and every Obama supporter was agreeing with them

so it's not "lolol stupid right wingers" as much as "stupid people"

I think the biggest problem is that Palin herself is not very well educated in political matters. When you get people following someone like that, it becomes a carnival of stupid.

but it is

I'm thinking the same thing...I don't know if I should be laughing that there are people in this world like this or sad because there are people in this world like this...

People vote like they're choosing a race horse to bet on. THey know nothing about the horse or its jockey. They just pick the one with the name that speaks to them.

I understand your point. Many people on both sides of the spectrum form their opinion based on an understanding of the issues that doesn't even try to delve beneath the surface. Tons of people can do nothing more than regurgitate talking points that they hear. You're absolutely right about that.

What I find extremely unfortunate about the Palin movement, though, is that she epitomizes this mindset. She herself seems to have nothing to offer in regards to political discourse aside from conservative platitudes. Her entire platform is just the bullet points on one page of a pro-conservative brochure. "I think that government holds the citizens of this great nation back and I think people should keep their money and not have fat cats telling them what to do with it, and they should have guns if they want to, and I think this is the greatest nation on earth and I'm not going to apologize for holding on to that belief, and family values are great!"

That's it.

yeah, the people were dumb, but its true for most supporters of any politician. I've asked my friends who supported Obama like crazy last year about actual policies, and they didn't know shit. They weren't dumb people by any stretch, but politics can sometimes just be about wanting to be on the "winning team."
