Saw a guy spew last night

So we went out for a few drinks with this guy at work who is getting married later this summer. A few drinks turned into doing shooters with all the other guys at the table. The groom to be was pretty wrecked, and he warned us, right before that last tequila shot that he couldn't do it.

Here is what happened on that last shot:

1. Groom-to-be does half the shot, put his hand to his mouth, looks around in confusion
2. He turns his head, spews chunks on the manager's leg
3. Runs away from the table and continues to spew in the flower pot at the bar (luckily we were on a patio)

Anyway, the waitress then complained at the end that we didn't leave enough of a tip for her because our buddy spewed (we left 18% tip) She said we didn't appreciate her service. I've never seen a waitress do that.

Oh man oh man, that sounds like a pretty damn good night. Your buddy will feel much better after having his system cleaned out. I feel like having a few rounds myself right now...

I can't stand it when waitresses bitch about tips. It seems like over the last few years the tip has turned from a reward for exceptional service to something they expect and demand. Sure, it's ok to get pissed if you decide to give a tip but it's super cheap, but 18% is fine. Now I'm sure someone will chime in with the, "they need it to make ends meat!1" You know what, great. If they need it to make ends meat, then do a great job and you'll get it. All too often though, it seems like it's crappy service followed by "gimme tip."

If you guys were doing multiple shots, then the bill probably was pretty high, 18-20% probably was a good chunk of change. But for the spew...I might have bumped it up to 25-30%. That is if I frequent that bar. If not...screw'em.

I only really tip really good if it is a place that I go to alot. Usually in return, I get free drinks from the bartenders and managers.

I saw a guy spew last Saturday. A group of us were backpacking on the Appalachian trail in Maryland, and we did about five miles through the heat of the afternoon before we reached our campground and set up. We were sitting at a picnic table talking when my friend Steve casually turned to the side and spewed up about a quart of water he drank. I guess the heat got to him.

He said, "Sorry, guys."

I said, "No problem, let's eat!"

We don't frequent that bar alot. I can understand if we were cheap on the tip say 10%, but c'mon 18% on a large bill is a good chunk of money. We had dinner there, most guys got steaks, beer was flowing freely (at over $6/pint I might add) and of course the shots...don't know how many of those there were. I estimate the bill was EASILY between $600-$700. Thank God the manager picked up the tab, it was a bit dicey after he got puke on him :lol

Well, a lot of the time they only make like $2 an hour...

But if you want to be all Mr. Pink about it, I guess that's fine.

Ok, if they're making THAT little, then they should quit. But like I said, if they need some tips to augment their low wages, then do a good job and they'll get it. I'm talking about those assholes that slack it up then demand a tip. It happens far too often.

Oh, and what the hell is "Mr. Pink"?

Reservoir Dogs - Mr. Pink doesnt tip on principle.

Thanks. I was about to rip into him for one of those generic ignorant, "yer all be dem pinko commie freedom haters!!" comments. But like I said, I feel the tip is for great service. I ordered pizza at 3am once, delivery guy comes over and the bill was $15, I gave him $20 and said keep the change. That was a 25% tip, and it was given because he delivered in the middle of the night, it was great service, and he deserved it That's how I feel it should work. Not to say they should bend over backwards, but just not slack off, screw up the food orders and all that crap, then hold out the hand expecting it.

There's no way the waitresses at this place make $2/hr considering minimum wage is much higher than that here. Also, this isn't some dive of a bar but instead a pretty well known establishment with high-prices for everything so I'm sure the staff there get a decent wage.

It's legal to pay waiters/waitresses less than minimum wage (and that's actually what most places ANYWHERE do.)

Yup, I don't know what the minimum wage is in the U.S.A. but over here in Ontario I know a lot of people who are waiters/waitresses and they get paid about 1 or 2 dollars below minimum wage.

I agree with the thought you get the tip for good service. I've been to many bars where when I buy the first drink I tip pretty well; because of this they end up remembering me and serving me before others.

Wow I never knew that. That's ridiculous. What the hell is "minimum wage" if it doesn't apply to all jobs?

Remind me of this passed Saturday.

Waiting in line to get into club. Young asian chick in front of us just runs to the corner and gives it all up in front of everybody. Wipes her mouth, and calmy gets back into line while everyone applauds. I pat her on the back and give her 2 sticks of Dentyne :D

Her friend tell us she only had like 4 beers :lol

Wow I didn't know that either. Regardless, this is how the service industry works (in America at least). By paying your staff shit, it ensures they'll actually do a good job to make some real money - tips.

In Europe I've heard that a lot of the time, a tip is added to the bill automatically, so generally service there isn't as good as it is here.

And yes, a lot of times at restaurants, they actually need a tip to break even. Regardless, that waitress never should've said anything, it's entirely unprofessional. They shouldn't have let you guys drink that much anyway, you can always tell them that :lol
