Hey all, I've read about some issues with the Live! range of cards and WinXP. The drivers I supposedly have address those, but I'm wondering if people are generally free of problems with their SB Live! and using XP.

Until now, I've just been using onboard sound, but my new video card (Radeon 9600XT) seems to be causing a bit of interference that can be heard at higher volumes. Thought I'd see if a standalone card would remedy the issue at all..

I've never heard that. I can easily believe that Creative fucked something up, but I thought the Lives were pretty compatible. I got one in a spare machine, works fine. Dark10x has one in his desktop, few complaints. I even install my Audigy2 as a Live before patching it because I lost my original driver disc and Creative fucked something up.

Mileage and variance I suppose but personally I've had no problems. Are Audigy 2's still expensive? Those front audio panels are a godsend.

No problems with my Live! 5.1, although my optical out has NEVER worked. i got it solely for that reason too. :(

Edit: For the record, it was a Minidisco open box item.
