SC: Chaos Theory GC and PS2 information

Meanwhile on the multiplayer side of the game Ubi has clarified the position for both platforms, and there's good news and bad news, Sam Fisher fans. Cube and PS2 owners can look forward to a split-screen-only co-op mode (as opposed to online as with the Xbox and PC), while the Versus mode will be completely absent on the Cube. On the PS2, however, there will be four new maps on the Versus mode, but oddly the rules and gadgets available have been ponced straight from Pandora Tomorrow. Confusion reigns. And pours.

No PS2 online and no Versus mode at all for Cube.

It still is kind of vague on the Versus mode for PS2. It says specifically that co-op is offline, but it is still possible that versus mode might be on-line for PS2. IIRC, there was no online mode for PT on PS2.

The PS2 version did have an online mode, but I heard it was quite crappy.

PT was online for the PS2.

You know I just don't get alot of 3rd parties

the cube is more than able to handle multiplayer so why take it out

they do half ass ports to the system take out features or other things and then bitch when no one buys it on that platform

I just don't get developers some times

have you played pandora tomorrow? splitscreen competitive multiplayer would break the game.

as for an online gamecube game? el oh el.

I wonder how co-op will work, and if it will be any good.

I'm always on the look-out for a good co-op game (even to the point of buying a game -- like SC -- that I wouldn't ordinarily have any interest in).

I don't mean to seem like I'm picking on your topics or anything Jedimike, but SC has a long way to go and yet Ubisoft thinks it fit to release one every year. Why? Put it in an incubator and freshen things up a bit! That's all I'm saying.

Yeah SC is slowly becoming old news with 3 games in 3 years. How much did Pandora sell anyway wasnt it a fraction of what the first one sold?

If you've been following the game, you'll know the Pandora Tomorrow was a collaboration of maps leftover from the original with the added multiplayer element. Chaos Theory is really the true sequel to SC.

And Ubi certainly isn't the only one to crank out their franchises... Burnout, Need for Speed and GTA have had 3 games in 3 years, not to mention the yearly sports titles.

..and no, I don't feel picked on. It's just obvious we have different tastes in gaming.

That's what they did.

No Snake in the PS2 Version? :D

That would be awsome though first play the game through using Sams strengths then do the same thing with Snake. Make that happen Konami and UBI.

It seems like that's saying there will be four extra maps in the PS2 version compared to the Xbox version. That sucks.

Regardless, this is my most wanted game of the year.

so the multiplayer is ONLY online, because other wise that would mean the Xbox and PS2 versions would also have splitscreen multiplayer which means it could be done

as for an online gamecube game? el oh el.

it's there and yes Nintendo should have made more use of it themselfs
it's set up is just like the PS2's (companies having to host their own servers and set up their own service) if developers actually supported it (and yes this includes nintendo themselfs) it would have sold more

PSOI+II sold almost 200,000 units I'd imagine close to that number of online adaptors sold with it I mean it is an online focused game, if other games came out supporting it it would have sold more, this was nintendo's fault in not getting developers and they themselfs not supporting it

but it's there and it can be done

but hey MAYBE just MAYBE if Ubi Soft didnt make their GC ports of Splinter Cell so half assed, and pulling features from it, well it just might sell as well as the other ones and might just make an online userbase

but that's alot of what ifs and my only point is that it can be done, and that developers shouldn't be surprised when they go and make a blatantly inferior port and it doesnt sell

no it was quite good (beta testing), but ey - 4 player matches sucks anyway.

btw.

is the ps2 version in development at shanghai? because this studio is one of the worst ubi soft could ever get. (ghost recon, rainbow six 3, splinter cell - all bad ports)

Montreal is handling it. (except for Versus, that's all done in France)

You should take some time to work on your trolling skills just so you could freshen things up.

the cube and ps2 (and xbox, i think,) versions have splitscreen co-op. it's the competitive mode that is online-only. this is a good thing.
