Yeah but those games appeal to the more casual gamers. Why pay £450 - £500 for a Scorpio if you can get a PS4 for £200? The Scorpio was never supposed to appeal to those people anyway.
Maybe but those games appear on the PS4 as well so whats the point? You're right it appears Microsoft have no idea what they are doing with the Scorpio hell the X1 as a whole for that matter.

Microsoft, take notes! Their exclusives still look abysmal.

What the fuck! Man screw waiting till E3 we need some good news on games now.
Yikes. I don't remember hearing much praise for the game at the various conference reveals, but MS isn't doing so hot with their Japanese collaborations. With this game gone, do they even have any Eastern games in the pipeline at all?
You kind of have to wonder about the wisdom of canning games that already have had a considerable investment, when you're in distant second place, have less titles released overall, and can afford to to quietly release a few less-than AAA games under the guise of being "experimental". I'm still baffled that Fable got canned despite being playable (and decent) at multiple show floors.
Ah, here's what I was looking for

July 2015: "Those shits at MS...are they fucking with me?"
So, let's set a timeline HEAVY with speculation. Game was announced at E3 2014 without much notice. It skipped E3 2015, but showed up at Gamescom that year in August with an announcement of four-player co-op, which was shown off with a much rougher game in E3 2016's conference. The game was then cancelled soon after.
My guess is that, in July, Kamiya was told he had to rejigger the game into a four-player co-op thing. There were never any hints he wanted to make the game a Monster Hunter-like, but I am guessing people in charge of money were expecting him to do so. It gets announced, shown off, and the response is tepid. Changing tides at Microsoft, a desire to free up the UE4 team they put together to work with Kamiya, and being unhappy with the state of the game lead to it being cancelled.
If my guess is correct, that's really sad.
Phil, if one of your researchers is reading this (which they are) nothing less than pulling Lost Odyssey 2 out of the bag and getting Dragon's Dogma on BC is gonna get me back into the happy place I was in with Xbox until tonight.
You mean
Cuphead
E3 is still coming as well as Scorpio and more BC. I'm OK with it, thank you.
I have a PS4 and I will buy a Switch. Play games, be happy

You think Halo would be a cheap IP currently? And I'm sure Sony wouldn't mind putting out Forza or Gears game either for the right price. Gears even being down is still a multiple million selling franchise. Gears 4 will sell 3+ million more than likely.
How many studios are making a game with the scale of scalebound, like huge monsters fighting each other along with four player co-op. Platinum had never even attempted a game with this scale before.Something is wrong with Microsoft at the moment.
Platinum are world leaders in 3rd person character action games and somehow they couldn't get this over the finishing line.
I don't understand what they are thinking these days, why is the 1st and 2nd party output so lacklustre?
What the hell Phil?

There was already a post about what really happen with this tweet and not really have to do with it.
Hello Nintendo exist. The only JP dev who has their shit figured out.
No point? Uhhh peeps just want to vent on the Internets. Sounds like a human point to me.Really hope that this won't have a big negative impact on Platinum. It's unfortunate to see their first original game since Wonderful 101 get cancelled. But at the same time it was looking rough when they showed it.
There's also no point in trying to put the blame on anyone without more information about the game's development.
This a developer that has made a MP online versus brawler a co-op game is hardly crazy. It's fishy that we saw a multiplayer demo at E3, something Platinum has never done. It reeks of publisher meddling to me. We may never know but looking at the history of both parties as well as Kamiya's flawless track record, I'm willing to give them the benifit of the doubt.
You underestimate the importance of having the best 3rd party titles. That's the reason I bought my PS4 over XO.
Nailed it hawk. That is the thing...so many here on Gaf have been shitting on the game, many named it a game in the bomb thread like you posted. MS cancels the game and then all of sudden it is a "why?, WTF?" type of thing. If the game was not going good and the team was behind schedule, why keep funding something that may just not pan out?
I mean look at how many people here on Gaf were dissing on the game, but now that it is cancelled it all of a sudden "evil MS", "Phil sucks" "Xbox is doomed" type of shit.
For a game so many did not give a shit about, that many thought was shit to begin with, it sure is one of the most popular games now that it is cancelled.
Well Microsoft wanted you to forget it thats why they silently replaced the Remake with a HD Remaster and even that looks like its canned.I forgot Phantom Dust was a thing
you can get 2/3 of those on PC now
....Good.
Thank you, Jeff????
Ah, here's what I was looking for

Remember kids when bad games get canceled that's a good thing.

y'all just call everything portbegging, get those cheap shots in

Same kind of thing was said about all things involving the Xbox One launch itself. But if you wanna defend it, go for it.

Shit like this is fucking dangerous. That is not what happened and that tweet has nothing to do with it. But people will start quoting this and eventually actually believing it when it's completely baseless speculation pulled from nothing.Ah, here's what I was looking for

Have there been any successful third party/Microsoft partnerships this generation? I guess Ryse?
