SCEA doesn't want to publish Wanda??!

Who cares? SCEA wouldn't prevent a third party publisher from releasing it here. SCEA would never reject a title developed by their European or Japanese divisions. And a 3rd party would be bound to pick it up. It will come here one way or another.

We don't know what happened exactly with Metal Slug 3. Some people in the know (David Toole) suggested it wasn't rejected because 2D games suxxors. I suspect what happened is that SCEA would not approve the game at full price but was willing to approve the game as a budget title. SCEA has done this for many titles (VF4: Evo being one example - SEGA wanted to price it at $49 in the U.S., but SCEA thought it was too similar to VF4 to be released at full price). SNK Japan was unwilling to release the game for $29 and refused to release it here for PS2.

all i can think of is wanda on curb your enthusiasm
what's that shiit on your shirt? you been scrouuuungin' around lookin for ASSES?

SCEA isn't that dumb, they know it shows off the power of the PS2...and that I'll kill any person that asks for a Sony product if Wanda isn't released in North America. I waited too fucking long for "Nico" news to be jerked around.

I'm not worried though. Some other publisher will gladly pick it up, just like what happen with Ghosthunter. SCEA was acting iffy and Namco picked up the fumble.

Impossible, you are jumping too soon. SCEA is not going to stop an internal game to be released, much less a game that means so much for the prestige of Sony internal development.

That's funny, since the PS2 version got released as a budget title in PAL regions.

As many have already said, Sony IS PUBLISHING Wanda in the US. Just a stupid gamefaqs rumor.

However, SCEA has definitely rejected other divisions titles, at least SCEE titles:

1) Wipeout: Fusion
2) Dropship
3) Demolition Derby
4) Hardware: Arenas
5,6,7) WRC 2,3,4
8) Ghosthunter

I'm not aware of them not publishing any SCEI titles that were appropriate for western release, although there could be. I know there are some niche titles that wouldn't stand a chance in hell at selling here and it's just smart business to not publish those titles.

SCEI is big on Wanda, so SCEA will distribute it. SCEA mostly only chooses not to publish SCEE games and very niche SCEI/SCEJ games. Ico sold 250,000 in the U.S. alone, better than I'd say 2/3rds of all games released. Also, Wanda and Ico aren't related, SCEA wouldn't make a decision based upon the sales of Ico when Wanda is a completely different game.

solution - change Wanda and the title...

SCEA won't approve it until angst and boobies are put into the game, with a cameo by Jak

You forgot guns and blood and cussing or a sports theme of some sort. That is what sells this gen. I think Wanda should be postponed to make it a PS3 launch title. The artistic vision of the game would be that much more realized.

I thought overblown hysteria caused by premature speculation was a feature exclusive to Nintendo threads!

GAF hath surprised me once again.

SCEA chose not to publish any of those titles. That's different than rejecting titles for U.S. release. My point was, if SCEA didn't bring Wanda over here, they wouldn't reject the title if a 3rd party sought to publish it themselves.

FWIW - the TGS Wanda presentation was only open to Japanese and European media (two separate presentations on two days). Hopefully that is not a sign....

That's whay I meant. They "rejected" the publishing aspect. I agree that there's no way that Wanda's not coming here.

Yeah, if SCEA skips it (which given their track record, I can totally see) then someone else will pick it up quick. My money's on UbiSoft or Konami.

bringing over wanda will give them good press during the xenon launch period?
ok...

I'm just saying, the press is already excited about Wanda. For Sony, they want as many high-profile games coming out this fall to counter-program the X2 launch, much like how they had MGS2, GTA3, FFX, etc available around the Xbox/GC launches.

Seeing that Sly and Mark Of Kri both under performed by SCEA's standards yet both saw sequels anyways, there's nothing to lead me to believe that the successor to ICO won't get released in the U.S. as well.

Waiting for E3?

Not to sound Nintendo-ish. But I mean if TGS Wanda was closed off to american media, perhaps that's why. Maybe going to make a big push for the NA market at E3?
