McConnel and Graham will happily give you a second stimulus check, as long as you're a citizen of the United States and they don't have to fund a Democratic wish list at the same time. Schumer's opinion quite frankly doesn't matter at this point.
We need to be clear on this. The Republicans will sign a bill that is just stimulus. The Democratic leadership won't. Nancy wouldn't even negotiate on the last one. Maybe she'll negotiate on this one, I doubt it.

I think the Dems aren't working with the Senate because they don't want to give Trump a win. However...
The current Senate Bill, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't even have a mention of stimulus checks for people.

What they want to do is use this crisis to pass legislation that would never make it past the Senate, much less the President otherwise. So they attach all this other bullshit to a stimulus bill and then blame the Republicans when they don't swallow it whole.
The Democrats are very upset that the checks and balances built into our government by our forefathers prevent them from making sweeping and irrevocable changes to America. If they win the Presidency you can expect them to rectify this problem by getting rid of the filibuster and then stacking the supreme court with however many of their people it takes to pass whatever legislation they can dream up. In the process they'll conveniently change election law such that they remain in power until the next revolution.

Normally I’d agree and I can only speak to my area which is the extended suburb surrounding DC but as a tradesman I would say there is about half the work available in general, jobs follow suit. I have a lot of friends in restaurants, I also worked as a chef, many are hurting. Seems to me a pandemic that dramatically reduces the incomes of legions of citizens would be an occasion where help is warranted when possible.

The notion that everyone is out of work is so April 2020. For the few positions that legitimately aren't working, they could very easily extend federal unemployment.
There is so much politicization around free money that there isn't enough time to discuss why everyone wants one. It honestly is a bad idea to keep spending trillions.

Unemployment numbers did fall... But now they're creeping back up... There are businesses lost now which also means jobs lost. There are jobs to get but not everyone is qualified for them. Service jobs are being lost... AT&T is about to let go thousands... The airline industry let go almost 30,000 late last month... The economy is about to get hit hard again if we don't do something NOW.

I'm so cut up over the fact I never got anything out of the whole COVID situation. Moved from the UK to Korea in February. Left a job that would have had me on furlough (full salary, no work) for 6 months. Met many Americans here who got a stimulus check even though they left the US.
So bitter.
