sega ages panzer dragoon ps2 -- movie inside

1up alludes to the inclusion of a full remake...i don't know whether that's what we're seeing in the footage, which shows the saturn version at a much higher resolution and framerate, and possibly with an improved dragon model. it's a sega ages release, so chances are they'll fuck it up somehow. but panzer dragoon remains in some ways the best in the series, and the 15fps saturn version is pretty much unplayable at this point, so i'm definitely interested.

Gamespot wrote up an article stating it seemingly was just ported from the PC version, albeit running at 30fps. Regardless, we have it bundled with Orta anyway...but it's been awhile, that conversion came out slightly smoother didn't it?

Also, Sega Ages: Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box trailer is on Gamespot now. Didn't bother checking the forum elsewhere, but it seems fitting to mention in this thread.

Edit: Looks like a straight conversion on Gunstar as well as the other bundled oldies. Only Panzer looked cleaned up a bit, smoothing out the chunky texturing and fps.

hm, i don't remember how the version of pd1 on orta turned out. if indeed it ran at 30fps, i guess this release is kind of pointless. :lol

Yea, I'm gonna break out Orta tomorrow and check it again. Probably spend a couple hours replaying that wonderful Xbox gem again anyway.

Maybe someday we'll get Zwei again, I only remember it as being pretty class, but my copy hasn't gotten any play in the "aughts".

I don't think it's even close to 30 fps.

i hope they rerelease panzer saga just so everyone can play it, realize the shooters are a dozen times better, and stop asking for an rpg sequel. lovely soundtrack, though.

I really enjoyed the combat and situational dragon morphing a lot. It was just the hours of on-foot backtracking and crummy 'find the CG movie' garbage that really took a toll on the experience.

Sega broke their relation with D3 for making Sega Ages 2500 games, so no more irregular Tamsoft games like the old Sega Ages 2500s.

Games in "Space Harrier Complete Collection", "SDI & Quartet" or "Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box" seem emulated, and the SKUs full of content. Saturn games like Panzer Dragoon or Dynamite Deka seem to be slightly improved ports, but not reinterpretations like many of the old Sega Ages 2500s were...

Interesting information from IGN about the new course of Sega Ages 2500; from July 6.

Why not Saga? :(

1) Sega is probably testing the waters here with the first. If it does well, we'll see the other two
2) All the CG and music on Saga put it on four discs. Probably want to keep costs way down on budget releases

The Panzer Dragoon I played at the Sega Ages line at TGS was just the sameas the saturn one. Bit peeved, as I had been led to believe it was a remake!

I think because the original PD was ported to PC, which might possibly make the PS2 version easier? I really don't know how they're porting PD to be honest. I've asked the Saga question multiple times, but at least it's being remade for that Turner game subscription/download thing. Hope they don't rape it.

The Saturn version of Panzer Dragoon runs smoothly enough to be playable, but Orta's higher resolution port of the PC version feels a little choppier to the point of being somewhat hindered.

I'd like to see them do Mini as well.
Really? I'd love to see a portable PD, but Mini (while impressive by MS/GG standards) really did kind of suck. It reminded me more of the R-Zone version than any of the real games :lol

GameTap will have PDS? Interesting.

Yeah but it would piss off the Ebayers.

It was a fairly ropey looking port as well. The framerate was fairly poor and it didn't look as good as the unlockable version in Orta either. I was pretty disappointed. :(

Azel/Saga will likely never be remade/rereleased for the sheer fact that it was a total bomb in Japan.

It's not like it was a huge seller in the US either, but at least it has a good reputation here.

Sega - Leave Panzer Saga where it belongs. Don't ruin the memory.
Quoted for great justice.

"I don't think it's even close to 30 fps."
yeah, at TGS it wasn't.

It looked like a tarted up version of the saturn version - it almost looked cell shaded too.

and its frame rate wasn't great (certainly not 30fps)

Saga could fit on one DVD though.

Aww, I'd love a Panzer Dragoon port on the PS2... I still have video I recorded back twhen the Saturn came out months early. I played PD completely through.

Super Gt please.... Super GT..............please!
