Notice is hereby given that SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC. (the "Company") and SEGA CORPORTION, a subsidiary of the Company, at the meetings of their respective Boards of Directors held on March 8, 2005, resolved that SEGA EUROPE LTD., a company of Sega Sammy Group, should acquire all of the issued shares of The Creative Assembly Ltd. to make it its subsidiary, as described below:

Description 1. Reason for the acquisition of the shares: The markets of the consumer business, which Sega Sammy Group regards as one of its core businesses, have expanded rapidly in North America and Europe, while the Japanese market has seen sluggish growth. Hence, for our business development in the future, the North American and European markets have been growing in importance. Under these circumstances, Sega Sammy Group is promoting the concentration of its management resources on growth areas in its consumer business, relocation of its development resources for better productivity and unification of its development and marketing strategies. The Creative Assembly Ltd. has produced good results and has an established brand identity with the "Total War" PC series, whose titles have sold over a million throughout North America and Europe. By acquiring the shares of The Creative Assembly Ltd., Sega Sammy Group will be able to obtain competitive titles and a strong brand in the North American and European markets, in addition to expand product lines and increase sales volumes dramatically. Furthermore, we believe that we will be able to make good use of the development engines produced by The Creative Assembly Ltd. to expand future titles, as well as developing new ventures for next-generation platforms with the team.

Did they create that Total War: Rome game for PC? Maybe SEGA will stop being a fool and bring the entire Shenmue series to PC where it belongs.

additional info:

the game will be called SPARTAN and should remind gamers of dynasty warriors. maybe in with roman style? its a console game.

Excellent. Smartest thing Sega has done in a long time.

"Smartest?
Doesn't that mean that have to, you know, do other smart things?"

Wouldn't being their first smart move make it their smartest by default?

Oh, you were trying to be witty.

Sega Europe have signed Sports Interactive long term and acquired Creative Assembly. I would say that's the smartest part of Sega right now.

I'll buy it but damn i wanted realism, not myth. I want to fight for Alexander or Hannibal or even Genghis Khan in Historic battles. I don't want Titans and Gods. Oh well it will probably be great anyway.

That game looks really, really good. I'm honest when I say that's probably my #1 most anticipated game from Sega. That game really DOES look good. Sega Scores a hit (finally) this generation! :D

I'm still playing Rome: Total War with the SPQR mod, the game is just one of the finest I have ever had the pleasure to play. I look foward to any game CA puts out now, plus its cool to see Sega's name with theirs.

yes, it looks really fantastic - hopefully it will be as playable as dynasty warriors.

This is going to be one of the best SEGA games ever. I hope the Creative Assembly retain their freedom however. Activision are a better publisher than SEGA.

i was hoping this would be like dynasty warriors in a roman setting, but it doesnt look like it.

you look like you play as one generic character and its not based on much history. Thats one of the cool things about DW, you get to play as real heros from chinas history.

As the ruthless Roman Empire, under the bloodthirsty Emperor Tiberius, marches across the civilised world and seizes control of all in its path, one solitary land of warriors remains defiant: Sparta.

As the Romans gather at the gates of the city, one lone Spartan rallies his comrades to stand firm against the evil empire. This is your battle!

Fight alongside hundreds of allies to liberate Sparta from the oppression of the Roman Empire, while completing a personal journey from Warrior to Hero and eventually Legend. Discover mythical beasts, legendary lands, legions of foes and divine weaponry, and earn your right to be called a true Legend.

Spartan: Total Warrior is an epic combat game from the creators of the multi-million-selling Total War series of strategy games.

One warrior against hundreds - truly epic-scale battlefield combat as never seen before.

Hundreds of combatants fight on-screen at once, filling massive, interactive battleground landscapes with the sights and sounds of their struggle.

Wide-ranging enemies with differing strengths and vulnerabilities - mastering weapons, gaining strength and adapting tactics are a must.

Individual fatality moves for each melee weapon.

Use your shield offensively as a powered weapon.

Thirteen vast levels across three continents.

A variety of weapon types including swords, dual swords, spears, hammers and bows, all with two forms of attack - swift attacks target individuals while sweeping attacks target groups.

Activision is a much better publisher, they should have picked CA before Sega...Kudos to Sega Europe, these guys seem to know what they're going...CA is very talented developer!
