SEGA CD Suggestions/Appreciation Thread

Pretty much every worthwhile title for the SEGA CD was previously mentioned, but I'll throw down a couple more votes for the following:

Any Working Designs title
Robo Aleste
Android Assault

A couple other I didn't see mentioned that are worth checking out imo are

Dungeon Explorer and Panic!

While not much of a game, Panic! is truly a one of a kind experience.

Rise of the Dragon was pretty good but very short.

Willy Beamish and Monkey Island are must haves if you never played the PC ports.

Dark Wizard is a must. Sonic CD is imo the best Sonic game.

Final Fight was great too.

The only game I can tell you to stay far away from is Bram Strokers Dracula. The graphics were good but did the control suck or what, am i rite?

Spider-Man VS Kingpin: Holy damn hell, man, this had an awesome soundtrack, the first attempt at recreating a map of NYC and and freaking rampaging gorilla. I loved it for the cutscenes. Better than the genesis port sans the picture-taking.

I believe that the same team that ported Spider-Man Vs the Kingpin also handled the port of Batman Returns to Sega CD. Both games should demand a purchase off their soundtracks alone (doesn't hurt that Spider-man is fun and the driving games in Batman were awesome for the time).

Games I remember spending a great deal of time with...

Spider-man Vs the Kingpin
Batman Returns
Mortal Kombat
Star Wars Chess
Plok
Mickey Mania
Chuck Rock
Jurrasic Park
Silpheed
Earthworm Jim
Tomcat Alley
Keio Flying Squadren (?)
Space Ace
Ecco the Dolphin (and Tides of Time)
Sega Arcade Classics 5 (Golden Axe, Columns, Return of Shinobi especially)
Sonic CD
Fatal Fury Special
Power Monger
Bouncers

Hell you can probably find all of those on ebay in packs for like 40$ max...

Now if you want the good shit (Popful Mail, Vay, the Lunars, Snatcher, Dark Wizard, Shining Force) be prepared to pay 30-50 per game.

Also if you like hokey acting and Shenmue style QTE stuff grab up Wirehead, Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, Fahrenheit, and Kamen Rider Zo.

Or just hokey acting get Corpse Killer, Double Switch, Shelock Holmes 1-2, Sewer Shark (I never made it passed rat breath), Night Trap, and Prize Fighter...

Oh and the Make your own vide games are so bad they're good. =P (Inxs, Marky Mark, Kris kros, C&C Music Factory)

On a completely different note, how hard is it to rip tracks off a Sega CD? I know if I drop most of my discs into a regular CD player, I can play the music tracks on there with no problem. But if I toss the same disc into my PC, I can't get iTunes to recognize or rip the tracks.

I've never had problems ripping music from my Sega CD titles that use CDDA...try any cd writer that can rip to bin cue...then bin chunker to rip the cdda from the bin as wav files.

Or you could just go here for your sega cd audio needs...if it's good it's likely ripped. Server is acting up at present so it may take a few tries to get the music.

Yeah, ripping tracks off a Sega CD disc is exceedingly simple. If you can rip a track from an Audio CD, you can easily do the same for a Sega CD game.

Hmm. Maybe i was thinking of Puggsy. Looking through my collection i do have plok for SNES...could swear i played this on Sega CD though.

Maybe it's yet another beta title I ended up with via ebay. Sort of like Prime which I have a pressed cd of but as far as i know was never released.
