Hey guys, I have an issue and thought this would be the best place to try solve it.
I have a black SEGA Sports Dreamcast and when I plug in my Agetec (NA) arcade stick into the A and B slots the VMU makes a beeping noise but does not come on. Nothing is registering when I move the stick or press any buttons. When I plug the arcade stick into the C and D slots the VMU works but nothing is registering when I move the stick or press any buttons.
I guess it's safe to say my Dreamcast needs to be replaced to get my arcade stick to work? Or am I doing something wrong?
The controller works fine, just the arcade stick won't work. The Dreamcast is a NA system, the arcade stick is almost like new and the games say they will work with an arcade stick as well.
Any suggestions?

What about PS1 games makes them unplayable to you? I'd guess the graphics. If that's the case, of course it is personal, but the DC is officially the point where 3D became "good enough" to me. All advances since have been nice but unnecessary
Also, there are tons of great PS1 and Saturn games, stop being a baby.

Soul Calibur and DOA 2 still looks great
DC SoulCalibur in 1999 was mindblowing. Both series have better looking games in their franchises, but the fluid 60fps really helps them age well.
As for holding up, I like SC1 more than its sequels, but DOA2 has definitely been surpassed by its sequels.
both looks great on a SD TV al least
SC1 was amazing 99/00 and SC3 was amazing for the PS2 in 2005
SC1 remains one of the best 3D fighting ever made maybe the ultimate fighting game
DOA2 was amazing on DC but DOA3 was made on a much more powerful hardware but stil a great game to play.
F355 and MSR didn't age well when you compare with GT3 on PS2, Le Mans 24h looks descent
VT1 didn't age well awful character model but so much fun
I don't get any picture on my CRT TV when using a SCART lead. I think it may be because my TV doesn't support RGB. Is there a regular SCART cable I can use that doesn't require an RGB-capable TV? The S-Video cable works but the picture is nowhere near as good as the SCART when I hooked it up to my previous Trinitron TV which unfortunately stopped working.
I don't think there's anything wrong with seeing the ps1 era graphics as dated. They even remake last Gen games for HD.
The ps1 has great games, but they're from a different era of early polygonal 3d. The controls, design, and gameplay can also be seen as dated.

The hardest thing about going back to DC games isn't the graphics. They're mostly fantastic for the time......it's the lack of that second analog stick!
Yes. PC and keyboard are essential accessories for some of the games IMO.
Great, now I have an itch to play Outrigger.I have no idea where my original DC keyboard has gone but I do have a near brand new mouse, I still need to try it with quake at some point but I played through that earlier last month with the controller, i'll buy a new keyboard first.

bought my DC keyboard for PSO clan, kept it for Typing of the Dead. still use it!
One of my favorite Dreamcast games and arena FPS.Dude, love that game. Glad to hear someone else has actually played it instead of just owning it.
Emulation? Boo.
Console + Original discs + VGA. That's what real DC fans use.
Man playing online blew my mind back then.
That's cool.hnnnghhh feelin' fine in '99, think ill go be rude to some people on these interwebs & call em a buncha
...oh. okay segas i guess ill be nice then
aw, now i wanna see & play the holiday stuff! really cool to hear they kept that going after christmas NiGHTS
Just got an absolutely awesome two month late birthday gift last night
I'd always wanted to try out Typing of The Dead, however I never really got around to picking it up. That and I only really have one keyboard and no real good place to store it outside of it's original and highly beat up packaging.
Last night however, the lady friend presented me with a second DC keyboard, a copy of typing of the dead, and two extremely awesome customized cardboard boxes to keep them in. :lol
I loved that Extreme Sports game. Especially the soundtrack.
It was released for PC, too.
I figured it out, I'm an idiot. If the DC ports died the vmu would not react at all, so I don't think it's that... though that does sound weird, can you try it with a regular controller to see if that works ok?
Indeed she did!wait, did she do the boxes herself? because those are awesome!
That is EXTREMELY cool.
Great game, too. I was very sad to see that the characters in the Overkill version aren't sporting strap-on keyboards and some sort of console backpack with a giant battery...
