Sega Genesis space fighter *what's the title*

I'm looking for a genesis game but I forgot the title. All i can remember is just a few details about the game. You pick one ship from a selection of about 6 differnet space ships. each ship has a different ability (eg. one can cloak and has a high powered flame thrower, another was green and had small bots that would attack the opponent with lazers..) Then you could either battle the AI in a one on one battle or challenge a 2nd player.

The view was overhead 2d game, simple graphics with completly black backgrounds when battling. i believe when playing the game only half the screen was taken up for gameplay and the other half had stats of some sorts.

Help!!!

Hmm, since his question is answered...I have a question about a game I can't remember.

I'm pretty positive it was for genesis, and your were in a ship of sorts. The view was overhead and you free-roamed over terrain blowing up other ships and like "flashing pod things" to get into blocked off areas.

Also, at the beginning of every mission it said something which sounded like:

"Nagoo nagy nagy noo -- GOOD LUCK" heh.

Ideas?

Thunder Force III is tits...if you can buy that game you MUST (all side scroller as opposed to II's mixed gameplay, though)

there was a robot fighting game where you could choose parts (limbs, torso, etc) from other robots, and fight others...pretty shitty game with dark graphics...but the only game from my old Genny collection I haven't been able to repurchase simple because I never remembered the damn name

Rise of the Robots?

most of you do not know that Thunder Force II originated on the semi-obscure Sharp X68000 computer in Japan. it came out a year before the Genesis TF II and the X68000 version was MUCH better :D

I submitted a question to WWTG... doubt anybody will know this:

I remember seeing pictures for this game in EGM a while ago, probably around 92-94. It was for one of the 16 bit systems, I'm tempted to say SFC or PCE-CD, never came out in America. It looked like an RPG with 3 person, side-view (like the FF games) battles, the graphics were fairly bright and colorful, and one of the guys in your party was a guy with a blue suit (?) and a box for a head. Haven't ever been able to find the name of this game, no matter where I ask.

I will try to find out what that game is - I know what its like to remember seeing a picture of a game, and then years later not know what it was, or try to find someone who knows what you're talking about.

That voice sample in Thunder Force II is one of the great mysteries in gaming :).
