Selling DS for PSP games: good idea?

Well, I'm considering selling my DS with Mario 64 and Feel the Magic. Not for an actual PSP, mind you, I can actually afford that with one game (provided I can get a PSP of course, going to have to camp out, or some shit.). But I'm considering selling the ol' DS for actual PSP games, because, seriously now, the PSP launch lineup makes me want to chop my fucking cock off in glee, and only being able to choose one is like torture. Torture a considerable degree worse than chopping your cock off, that is.

So, instead of having to choose between Lumines, Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer, and Metal Gear Acid, to those who've played some or all of them; are they worth swapping a DS for? Now keep in mind, I'll definitely be picking up a DS again eventually, when it is ~$100 and has a much better library, and I still have my SP to play GBA titles (which, to be honest, was pretty much the only playtime my DS was getting anyway), though I did want to try Yoshi and Wario Ware.

:lol leave your dick on.

This is a decision 4 u. Altho the PSP launch lineup looks pretty good i must admit.

Wipeout, RR, Lumines, MGA, TM, etc all seem to have their fans.

God luck to u and your penis

id sell my first born for a psp and all the launch games. selling your DS should be an easy decision in comparison.

I don't know...you probably won't get that much for it and if you buy it later, it will be the same price. Can't you just wait?

On the other hand, DO IT!

... you know, I had some long winded, logical explanation on why you should keep it ... but fuck it, just sell the damn thing.

PSP is looking like the better investment at this point. I'm thinking of selling my DS as well, bundled with some games

^and Nintendo most definitely needs some competition. That way, maybe they'll be compelled to make some damned price drops on their portables once in a while

Which would you rather play?

Feel the Magic where you rub stuff
or
Metal Gear Ac!d where you fuck shit up Solid Snake Style and watch FMV's of real boobs

Funny you should mention that ... I just got rid of that rubbish DS and games. IMO I don't think the DS has much of a future. I pre-ordered PSP w/ 9 games for release day.

Considering the PSP has nothing really great past the launch list (And then it's like... 3 games out of 20) and the DS has a nice list of games coming up (It was posted in the Lunar Genesis thread), I'd at least wait out til E3 and see what both systems have to offer. It seems like I'm partial to DS, really I just want to see if Sony can get some good stuff past the launch... though I still like the DS concept and will probably love the majority of the 200+ announced titles.

The DS actually has more announced support (quantitatively speaking in terms of software) than the PSP. It also leads the PSP in units sold and is one of the fastest-selling systems ever.

These things don't make the DS better than the PSP -- that depends on your personal opinion -- but they do make it hard to take those of you who think that its future is uncertain very seriously.

do it.

I just picked up the 3 newest DS games (Pokemon Dash, Yoshi and Retro Atari) and if I was not intent on keeping a full collection I'd throw the system in the trash.

Not sell it (don't need the money) but ball it up and dump it. Thankfully there are some great games heading to the DS but even the worse PSP launch title is better than the best DS game.

Get the PSP now dammit!*

* = previous post is not a troll just one gamer's opinion who is frustrated with the lack of software for his new handheld.

I would wait at little depending on what games you like. I was amazed at one the list that jarrod posted yesterday in that Lunar thread. It looks barren now, but I think in a year those who are rash will be hitting themselves.

Of course, if you really don't care for the types of games coming on the DS, then do what you want.

Get a job, slacker. :lol

Seriously though, why sell the DS? You can keep it and just buy more PSP games when you have the money. Selling systems is always stupid. Always.

I agree. In fact, I try not to sell any games, either.

Go and donate some plasma, blood or whatever body fluids you can sell :lol

Then go order an import copy of Meteos, get every PSP launch game you want and lay in bed and recover....the end

It's a valid strategy when one can recoup almost full value.

To the original poster, my plan would be to sell the DS immediately and wait until two weeks after launch for the PSP software deals that will inevitably crop up. Games do depreciate quicker than hardware, so I would make sure to get the software less than MSRP.

Do you have a job? If so, just wait, unless there's absolutely nothing on the DS side for four or more months that you want. i was tempted to sell my DS (system only), but i realized that i'd likely be losing money buying it back a few months later to play Meteos and Electroplankton. A price drop is possible, but i don't see it happening against a $250 PSP, especially when E3 will likely hold some surprise titles and the plans for their online service.

The only title i'm selling is Ridge Racer DS, for extremely obvious reasons. :lol

i think the PSP launch games are a bit overrated, with most of these games being updated ports of existing console games, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't make them worth getting that excited about. i'm getting it for Wipeout Pure, Lumines, and Ridge Racers, and will holding out for more reviews and cheaper prices on Ape Escape and Metal Gear Solid AC!D.

It's really your choice. You dont have a clue what will may be announced at E3 for either systems. And you might regret selling your DS for PSP. Keep in mind that both systems are relatively new and not guaranteed to be successful a year from now...

Buy a PSP with one game and keep your DS. Wait until after E3 to start changing your mind...because some new game might be announced for E3 that makes you change your mind again

NO!

DS RPGS >>>>> PSP RPGS (announced so far)

I kinda want a DS for Batin Katos and Final Fantasy

I agree but it'll be like a year before the DS has a solid lineup of games. I think the DS came out too soon. It'll really be worth buying like a year from now. Instead of waiting for games, sell it now and play some more PSP games.

Tool.

I remember the RR DS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> RRs discussions. :lol

Sell it. I wouldn't call the system dead yet, but I think support for it (which is minimal at best right now) is gonna drop quickly.

keep the DS until after E3.... almost might want to wait until PSP goes throw a couple more revisions. I learned my lesson(s) from PSOne, PSTwo. I'll wait and see what GTA looks like before picking it up.

Frankly, neither system has/had a lineup of must-have games after launch. i'm sure the online play with PSP along with original games like Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Ridge Racers will give it more staying power than the DS, but launch consoles just can't compete with the established library as well the greater support of existing consoles.

Man, I had a good laugh out of that. The image is so just funny!

Anyway, don't sell your DS man. Right now...sure...it's not exactly worth the money for investment. But in the future, there's plenty of games coming out that I'm sure will even satisfy your needs many times over. You said you're going to rebuy it anyway, though, so what can I say... if you're patient enough to wait for DS to become 99 bucks, I can't argue against that. I wouldn't.

Andy, you Sony-whore, hasn't TNL taught you anything? Buy one game at a time and enjoy them. Pile-o-shame begone!!
