I really enjoy all kind of water sports so I decided to get some sort of a water basin for exercising. Being too close to my lake line, I can't dig an inground pool (which would have been my first choice). A semi-inground pool looks kind of cheapish though it serves the same purpose as a normal swimming pool. A swimming spa is convenient in a sense that I will be able to use it all-year long but it doesn't add any value to the house (can be a good thing for property taxes and insurance though). There's a beach across my place with screaming kids, so that's not an option but I'm having a dock built this Spring with a ladder so in theory I could use my lake but I hate swimming with fish.

Thoughts?

I guess depends on what you're after. If it's purely exercise then go for the swim spa. But if you want more of a relaxing pool experience, go with the semi inground. They're not ideal, but with the right decking and landscaping they can still look pretty nice.

Personally I'd go with the semi inground. More flexible.

Seems that we have lots of priapulid worms fans here. You can look it up if you want to start your week into a jovial questioning of your existence.

I too like Blitzball.

Guess I agree with what was said above, if it's just to Swim the Swimming Spa might be better, if you want to give it a more "all around" classic pool use I'd go with the semi-inground. If you have the budget to dress it up a bit with a nice decking they can look quite nice.

I have a third of an acre lot btw. I'm planning to do a Japanese garden. (depending on my ongoing health issues) Budget is max 40kCDN (fences decking etc.)

I’m really interested in the steps you take. I’ve been looking at a pool for the family but never get to far. The more details the better.

One of the folks I know did an above ground pool and extended it off their deck with a large wooden deck all around. It’s pretty nice and they didn’t down a shallow hill so they could go pretty deep. they said their maintenance is very low for this but heating is a bit higher.

Good luck on the endeavour!

Semi-inground sounds like it would be a better value overall, as long as it's something you can swim effectively in. I like the jets in the swim spa that let you swim.

Keep us updated.
