Curious how Davenport just didn't bother after losing her serve in the 2nd set. I could've beaten her easily from that point on, and I haven't played tennis in any form since 1997 when I did so for a laugh for a couple of hours. I was shit then, too.

I always thought Hingis was pretty cute actually and I loved the way she played tennis.
Since this is a pseudo tennis thread, I have to say I don't really enjoy watching the game as much as I used to on the men's side. They really need to find a way to slow down the serve to make for longer and more entertaining points. I want to see guys have to work for every single point and find a way to grind through it, not just fire 140mph bombs like Roddick and get 60 free points a match. And the women's game has become a little sloppy these days, the amount of unforced errors the top girls hit is pretty insane.
Still, even in this juiced era the best moment for me had to be when Goran won Wimbledon. Definitely one of the best sports moments of all time for me.

And Tennis, in general, is fricking boring now.
I used to watch all the matches during the Sampras era. Nothing will ever top the classic Sampras vs. Agassi matches. Sigh.

Everything involving Becker was more exciting than the Sampras era. Sampras is one of the greatest players ever, but he was not that fun to watch. Tennis coverage in America is terrible anyways. Mac and Collins were practically in love with Sampras and Agassi and would talk about those two even when the match on didn't involve either of them!
That said, Becker wasted most of his best years fucking around, at least Sampras fulfilled his potential.

Sabatini was quite beautiful, but for some reason she's never top of mind for me. Probably because she hardly ever won. :lol
Hingis is a cutie...she was the chick I rooted for in the late 90's, while everyone else was going gaga over Anna K. They formed one hell of a doubles team, but alas no one will ever remember that part of Anna's game.
BTW, how the hell has Davenport ruined the game? She was barely playing for three or four years due to injury. Pretty sad I think, cause I always thought she was the one person who could challenge Venus and Serena at the top of their games.
The only thing that's ruined the game is the tech...the rackets are light years better then the stuff they were using 15 years ago. Not sure what they could do about it either...I'm not one for regulating tech, unless it's for the safety of the athletes.

Serves are just too powerful these days in the men's game. I was a decent player in high school and hell half the guys on my team back in the mid 90s could slam a serve down the middle at 100+. Some of the guys at states (they all raped me) were just ridiculous in how hard they could hit the ball. And that is just high school tennis in the smallest division.
If they could somehow slow most of the men's serves down to 100-120 again the game would be 100x more enjoyable to watch. Strategy is pretty much dead in tennis these days and has been for a while. I mean everyone just tries to blow the other guy off the court.
It wouldn't be that hard to do, just set a weight requirement on racquets. That would slow down everything and bring back rallies to the game.
I'd stick it to both of the Williams sisters.
If a person seriously thinks the Williams sisters are too large or built, maybe it's time that said person takes a serious look at their own poor conditioning & size as the reason for their inferiority complex regarding body type/shape comparisons to the sisters.
