Shadow Drop: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition - Switch 1 and 2

This just shadow drop - tomb raider DE, both a switch 1 and switch 2 versions.

Impressions on Switch 2 version.

Game looks mostly good altho lighting seems off. A bit more simplified from what I remember. Looks brighter and less dynamic, like if it's missing dark shadows, looks a bit flatter.

No TressFX on the hair. Hair doesn't animate as the definitive version. Her face is from the PS4 rerelease not the X360 version.

Frame rate is 60fps. So far runs great from the intro section. Hope the frame rate holds up in busy combat sections.

Has gyro and mouse support on the option screen altho gyro aiming doesn't seem to be working.

Strangely, no direct link on the eShop website, but it shows up under Recent Releases on the eShop - it's $19.99, but 10% off through November 24.

Switch 2 - docked.

Based on what I played on the Switch 2, it seems to be a Switch 1 port running at 60fps. Looks worse than the PS4 version but it runs silky smooth at 60fps.

How much?
The game is out today – it costs $19.99, but is 10 percent off through November 24. Those who own Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered can save an additional 10 percent. Owners of Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered will be eligible for a 10 percent discount. Note that these discounts stack, so you can potentially save 30 percent.

An extremely fun game... but Crystal Dynamics really did not trust this Lara as a protagonist... it's infuriating how the devs tortured this Lara to, in the end, have the balls to put a fu**ing wordart "A Survivor is born"... For God's sake! :-D

Every game from the 360/PS3 era should be ported to the Switch. Its just easy money.

I believe companies will keep making them for the Switch 1 for a long time. Userbase is gigantic.

Just bought. Banking on some patches to really improve performance on Switch 2.

(And for the record, I've already beaten this game on the Xbox One X)

Does the camera still bob around like a Bourne Identity movie or can that finally be turned off like in Rise and Shadow? I can't play this version of Tomb Raider at all cause I get sick from the camera bobbing all over the place when you move around.

This game any good? Might give it a try.
I received it for free on Steam and only made it as far as cave system after getting climbing pickaxes. It compares poorly to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune as its pacing is slow as molasses and gameplay mechanics are only serviceable.

The shooting is extremely bad

No cross buy, and no upgrade paths between the two versions? Lame.

I disagree. If I were to rank it among the Uncharted games, I would place it just below Uncharted 2. The game is also highly rated on Steam, with 95% positive reviews out of 160,989, labeled as Overwhelmingly Positive.

This is another one of those ports that would've sold better when the Switch released like Hitman Absolution. Whats going on in Crystal Dynamics that we are suddenly getting these ports?

it shits so hard on Uncharted it's not even funny.

Uncharted is pure trash compared to this game, even tho it's only decent 🤣

Loved it as well. One of my fav games from that gen. Borders on survival horror at some points too. The challenges were fun, gunplay was solid and the pacing is excellent. Also fun fact - Corey Barlog was the cinematics director.

Ill take every game of the reboot trilogy over pretty much every Uncharted, no matter how cunty Lara gets.

Agreed. Boring ass Uncharted is totally unplayable to me now. Tomb Raider reboot 1 is a solid game and much better than Uncharted.

Uncharted has the most repetitive shallow excuse for gameplay I've ever seen in gaming.

sadly the sequels downgraded the gameplay in many ways.
the changes to the combat alone made Rise of the Tomb Raider so much worse.

I agree and only the first game is still really solid imho, they got worse with each entry, climaxing in Paititi(in Shadow) which is the worst area in any tomb raider....or uncharted game.

Maybe I should try it out, then.

Is it truly "shitting" on Uncharted 2, though?

I found TR to be a significantly inferior game to Uncharted 2.
The story in TR makes no sense. On the one hand she is killing dozens and dozens of people during gameplay, like a psychopath, but during cutscenes, she is coy and scared.
Combat is serviceable, but not better than Uncharted 2.
The set pieces are much better in Uncharted 2. Most in TR feel forced and unremarkable.
Graphics in TR are more modern, but also more dull and brown.

Enjoyed the first. Couldn't get into the second. Did you guys like Shadows?
Liked it very much, the one I enjoyed the most in the trilogy, strongly focused on tombs and exploration (too much so for certain, but it has by far the best tombs of the reboot series) and one of the most gorgeous games of last gen.

However it has serious flaws: story is a mess, game has strong pacing issues (lot of downtime wasted on boring side quests in the two main hubs), and progression systems are whack (most skill trees are combat focused whereas combat is like only 5-10% of the game). But still, some levels are marvelous, so I would definitely recommend it

Yeah I'm replaying 2013 right now so I'm going to condition myself to actually play through Shadow. The combat bit is spot on. They added all of this nuanced combat stuff but barely throw combat at you and it's always like 5 enemies or so and then nothing for several hours.

Enemy variety also lacking. Too based in realism when you needed more supernatural stuff going on.
