Someone who bought the "shadow hearts 2 DC" posted on 2CH forum:

In the special DVD, there is the first trailer of "Shadow Hearts 3"

The title of the footage is "Shadow Hearts from New World"

The stage is set in North American in 1929.

The leading charactor is a 16-year-old boy called ジョニー who has lost his memories.
The main female charator is called シャナイヤ who has the power of elf (or spirit, not sure which is the correct translation).

The pictures (shot off a TV screen) of the two charactors can be found in the following Chinese board:
http://www.egchina.com/bbs/dispbbs.asp?boardid=12&id=324959&star=1#82547
I don't know to post those pictures here...

The scheduled release date is summer 2005.

SH1 & 2 are among my favorite games this gen. To me they are on the same level of the FF games. Can't f@ckin wait for this one!!! :D

Cool if true, especially the N. America bit. But a 16-yr old lead? That is a step back from the older characters that have generally led the series. Eh, maybe (hopefully) this will get the series back to Koudelka (and
Edward and Halley
, spoilered for those who haven't played the series)....or at least people connected to them....

Woohoo I guessed right!

Special video included (this could either be the special movie that was in the LE with FMV made just for this 5 min music video....or it could be a teaser for their next game ;)

Seriously this makes me so so so so happy. I'm at work and I'm literaly in tears of joy as despite the SH2 team being so utterly awesome and fan friendly, the sales of SH2 weren't that hot so I was worried they wouldn't get another chance.

If it comes out this year then GoTY 2005 :)

If there's a new male lead, there's a possibility that the game might be continuing from the "good ending", which truth be told is really fucked up. Since the release is this summer, there's a chance it'll make it here.

SHADOW HEARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This kid better be like Yuri or no sale! YURI YURI

Ok I lied, I'll buy this game if Midway swoops it up.

I'm reading 2ch and from the descriptions the video has a guy running through the city and then shows a battle with the main guy doing a standard attack while the girl is doing a spell. Supposedly the hit counter is the same font and the graphics seem similar to SH2 making it seem likely that it's running on the SH2 engine.

You guys are making me want to play Shadow Hearts now.

Dah! Did you not read my 9.6 gushing review back a year and a half ago where I personally thanked the team for making such an excellent rpg :P

Jackfrost2012 and Duckroll are both making amends tomorrow for not having played SH2 by buying and playing the DC version. Now you can too!

Plus it's only 3000yen!!!

RPGFan asked the program director at Nautilus about a SH3 and heres what he said

Q: Let me ask you about the projects currently in development at Nautilus. Are you already planning the release of a new Shadow Hearts installment? If that is the case, will it appear on PlayStation 2 like the first two games? Have you already set a release date?
A: Currently, I can't say anything, but because there are so many fans supporting the series, I hope we can announce good news in the future.

Also about the PSP/DS

Q: (Sony Computer Entertainment's) PlayStation Portable and (Nintendo's) DS were released last year, and the next generation of consoles is scheduled to be revealed in May. Is Nautilus planning or developing any games for these platforms?
A: The time when I can talk about that in specific terms has not arrived either. However when Shadow Hearts fans in various countries will start complaining, we will probably quickly develop a game [for these platforms] (laughs).

So it looks like its time to start complaining. :)

Just a thought.

The game will probably be a new series in the same universe just like Koudelka -> SH. That's why there's no 3 in the title. But it will keep the Shadow Hearts name because it will retain the judgement ring system (since it kicked ass).

Another Confirmation:

Just posted here at IGN...

Shadow Hearts 3 is Coming...
One of last year's best RPGs gets a new entry in Japan.
by Anoop Gantayat

March 9, 2005 - Despite having a ton of competition, Shadow Hearts: Covenant (Shadow Hearts 2 in Japan) was one of IGN's favorite RPGs last year. It was also a reasonable success in the Land of the Rising Sun -- big enough, at least, to convince its publisher Aruze to plan a sequel. That sequel is scheduled for its official unveiling via a special trailer included in the release of Shadow Hearts 2: Director's Cut -- a low-priced re-release of Shadow Hearts 2 featuring a host of new updates. The re-release, which is planned as a Japanese exclusive, will hit the shops on Thursday later this week. According to a few who've seen the included footage, the next Shadow Hearts will take place in America in 1929 and feature a number of past characters. The game is currently without an official title and its Japanese release date is planned for the summer. We'll be back with more once we've seen the trailer for ourselves. Stay tuned!

Dude, I've yet to play the first one for more than 30 minutes. I need to start there. :) BTW, got a link to your review of SH2?

Holy shit. The art looks AMAZING. I've been getting sick of fantasy rpgs lately. This and FF12( :) ) are my two most wanted rpgs now.

Guess I should play Shadow Hearts 2 then based on all this praise. Is the original worth going back to or even possible to find at this point?

Shadow Hearts is pretty easy to find. imho you should play them both, but you can also play only SH:Convenant, because you don't need to know the story of SH to understand SHC.

I just finished Shadow Hearts last night. Short version--

Pros:

+ Battle system
+ Characters (especially Yuri, but really, there's not a dud in the bunch--every single one of the major party characters is awesome)
+ Storyline
+ the general wackiness of the world in which the game takes place (a mix of legitimate 20th-c. world history and wacky magic and whatnot--it get weirder as the game progresses, but I don't want to give anything away)
+ Great music

Cons:

- One area of the final dungeon is needlessly tedious (
there's nothing I hate more than a teleport maze near the end of an RPG
)
- some bosses can also be tedious, involving repeating the same action for many, many attack rounds
- terrible, terrible voice acting

The pros far outweigh the cons. Definitely worth $20 if you can find it.

Looks like they've increased the production values this time around. Brighter colour palette is a nice change, too. Looking forward to it!

You forgot

+ fucking awesome cutscenes

and because it must be emphasized

+ yuri is the fucking man

This poster speaks the truth.... oh yeah almost forgot..

not just

+great music
+++++++++++++GREAT F'N MUSIC!

I love listening to the soundtrack... haven't got deep in to SH2, so I'm not sure if that soundtrack stands up as strongly.

Man, I was kinda hoping this game would take place in WWII... then Shadow Hearts 4 could take place in Vietnam and be like the biggest selling RPG ever in America :lol

Still sounds really cool, I've been waiting for them to take the SH games into America. And this team keeps improving leaps and bounds with each game.

I'll keep an eye on this, but I seriously did not like SH:Covenant whatsover. I doubt anything I disliked about it will be changed this quickly, but there's always a chance. I don't want to just expect it to be something I won't like with so little info.

Maskrider, if you got your copy could you rip the SH3 trailer?

Checked all around for the game today and it was sold out everywhere ;_; Really dying to see that trailer and the CG version of 'that' scene.

Bebpo - thanks for your IM earlier. I requested the US versions of 1 and 2 from a friend, so I'll probably try those first. If the Director's Cut has English for any reason, let me know ASAP! Otherwise, I'll go with the US version for now. Sometimes I don't mind playing RPGs in Japanese (obviously), but a game like this I would like to make sure I understand 100%, and I'm a little tired from working so much lately, so I don't feel like having to exercise my brain just to get what's going on. :)

Thanks for the heads-up though!

I certainly will, but damn that the shops cannot get it today, I have been checking the shops everyday since Tuesday, they said it might arrive tomorrow. Just hope it does or I will order it direcctly from Japan.

Just got it at a premium price (US$40), stay tuned.

I thought Shadow Hearts 2 was good, but it didn't match the high praise I've seen here.
I liked the judgment ring and the battle system...but only a few characters were actually interesting, and the game kind of dragged on at times.

And the character design for this new game is meh. :/

Thank you!!!!

--Cool music (most likely the same 3 guys from SH2)
--Main guy has a good voice and doesn't sound like a retard kid
--Locations look good
--AMERICA 1929!!!!

*edit* trying to figure out whose doing the voice for the lead. Any guesses? I've heard the actor before but I can't pinpoint it.
