Shadow of the Colussus saving problem, HELP!

OK, so after I beat the first colussus and it asks me to save, it recognizes that there is a memory card in the slot, but then when it tries to save it says that there was a failure to save and to checkthe memory card and retry. So I did, nothing. So I turned off the system and went into browser and looked at the memory card. Well, there was plenty of room, and there was also a "Corrupted Data" file as well. So I deleted it, and then beat the first Colussus again. Still failed. Has this happened to any of you? Is it the memory card? Game? System?

Thanks, because I need to play more!

Maybe your memory card is corrupt in that empty space that the game is trying to save to? Never heard of that happening so far with SotC.

I did have a save problem with SotC. It turns out that my disc was dirty..... I have no idea how this affected the save system, but I wiped my disc off - and no more saving issues!

It makes no sense to me either, but at least give it a shot :P

What did you use to wipe off the disc? I'm afraid of scratching it and making worse...oh I must play more!

Just use a good amount of steel wool. It'll take of the disc for ya

Edit: Just give it a good wash under the sink, and dry it off with something that won't scratch the surface

Thanks! The steel wool worked perfectly!

I once had a saving problem with Castlevania on the DS. I played for like 3 hours on my first play, thinking I was saving all the way, but only to find I was hitting 'B' instead of 'A' when selecting 'yes' to "Are you sure"?

$%$#@$^ Cancel buttons! It even went "bling!" too.

what does this have anything to do with this thread?

OK, cleaning the disc didn't work, and I'm pretty sure it's not the memory card cause it works for everything else. I wonder if I can find the receipt.

Have you tried saving at one of the shrines? Or beating the second colossus then trying to save?

Is a Soul Calibur 3 disc sitting within 100 feet of your PS2? Because, from what I've seen on other forums, it'll corrupt memory cards people ain't even thought of yet.

Nah, Soul Calibur 3 is no where near it...but I bet it was at the store! That must be the problem!

Thought the thread was over since he mentioned he solved his problem, figured a good place to talk about other issues with saving. oh well

OK, I hate to bring this back up, but I returned the game, and got a new copy and still doesnt work. When I play it, it says it says Saving Failed,a nd when I access the memory card, it has a Corrupt Data file saved, and a System Configuration. Both of which I have no idea what they are. I guess it's the memory card, but every other game works perfectly...any ideas would be fantastic, thanks!

im assuming you dont have a 2nd memory card or else you wouldnt be having this problem. try to find a friend that will let you borrow a memory card, transfer all your saves to it and format the memory card. actually, is there even an option to format a card? i dont remember.
