Shadowrun is a FPS?

Theron Benson: My name is Theron Benson; I am an Animator currently working for FASA Studios at Microsoft Game Studios.

I have worked on many projects, ranging from PC games to console, FPS to role-playing. Right now, I am animating for an Xbox 2 project called Shadowrun. It's a first-person shooter based on an old paper RPG of the same name from a couple decades ago.

Not what I had hoped, but if it's like Deus Ex it could be cool.

i find it kind of strange that this article just casually mentions shadowrun, when AFAIK, MS has never officially announced it.

This will be interesting to follow. Fingers crossed.

Blim told me.......and now I ache for it.

can we get some media or at least a PR on this now?

being a non-PC gamer (other than old school Sierra games and Fallout 1 and 2), could someone tell me what about Deus Ex would make turning Shadowrun from a RPG to a FPS acceptable?

I'm not pissing off the idea of a FPS Shadowrun just yet (hell, Metroid turning to a FPS worked out nicely), I'm just skeptical and, admittedly, disappointed. I hope whatever team is responsible for making this isn't just trying to milk one of the most popular current, trendy genres.

I'd live with it if it was like Deus Ex, however.. why do I see that not happening?

my dream game would be shadowrun (or, better yet, cyberpunk) with a gta like world, but played entirely from a breakdown/riddick perspective. you would have all the freedom of gta as far as how to complete missions or see the world, but you would always be in a cinematic first person view. /tangent

Considering that's how I always kinda pictured a 3d remake of the SNES version (Deus-Ex that is, not just a generic FPS) that would totally be awesome, I'll take it!

Apparently word isn't out at the FASA offices that FanPro is releasing 4th edition this year.

or the animator isn't geek enough to care?

That said, I'm picking up the 4th Ed in August. :D

Bah System Shock and Deus Ex are garbage. I hope it's nothing like those games.
I have never played Deus EX, but Syetm Shock is far from garbage. Only EA thinks the franchise is garbage. :lol

Deus Ex is an FPS with heavy RPG elements. It ties everything together really, really well, and has quite a bit of variety in how to do any given task.

the market needs more cyberpunk RPGs... that have NOTHING to do with The Matrix.
Isn't cyberpunk typically dystopian? I would not consider the Matrix to be dystopian or even cyberpunk.

Elder Scrolls is a rpg played from the first person point of view. It seems to work ,so I don't see why it wouldn't work with Shadowrun.

Probably means it is a first person perspective game. I wouldn't worry about the game being an all out shooter.

I hope so...

You have made it so, Developer. Gold star for you!

I hope its not full rpg. Me no likey those type of games.

Why would you have any interest in Shadowrun at all then. It's a pen and paper RPG.

IF THEY DON'T MAKE IT AN RPG IT WILL BE HATED.
