SHIFT UP has revealed that its upcoming cross-platform title, previously code-named Project Witches, will now be known as Project Spirits. The studio describes the game as a subculture title that "embraces the theme of 'Eastern Fantasy,'" with a global release planned for 2027.
"Project Spirits is SHIFT UP's new flagship project, a subculture cross-platform title that embraces the concept of 'EASTERN Fantasy,'" reads the game's description on the SHIFT UP website. "As a new [intellectual property] following Stellar Blade and NIKKE, it is currently in development as a top-tier quality game for the industry, building on SHIFT UP's proven track record and expertise in [intellectual property] creation demonstrated through previous projects."
SHIFT UP also posted job listings for several Project Spirits development roles, including background artist, battle planner, character artist, lead content planner, level designer, monster artist, previsualization artist, and screenwriter. Among the qualifications are proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, experience in planning Japanese RPGs or anime-style games, and creating open-world environments, large maps, and dungeons.
Here is the new artwork of the project featured on the SHIFT UP website:
