Also the musical artist bit doesn't surprise me. It seems Kanno is doing something else with her Piano Me stuff so her involvement might be more limited than past collaborations.

- Bebop was 80% serious, 20% comedy; Space Dandy is 80% comedy, 20% serious.

What original IP animes get more than 13 episodes (initially) these days? At least they're aware of the large potential international audience.

Makes me wonder how quickly the international version is coming out if they're relying upon that. Not like everyone can sit around doing nothing for a year while they wait for it to come out.

Kickstarter make it a 100 episode, a live action adaption, a musical and an 8bit downloadable game, do it now.

Every unproven IP gets only 13 episodes nowadays. If it sells, they'll do a "Space Dandy 2". Also, remember that Bebop isn't as hight regarded in Japan as in the US.

I dunno about that. Guilty Crown, Majestic Prince, Valvrave, Samurai Flamenco, Kill la Kill. Just a few titles off the top of my head which are unproven new IPs which had no issues getting 22-26 episode orders. Bebop is pretty highly regarded in Japan, and sold pretty well there.
