Shining Force Neo: Does anyone out there care?

Just read through the 1up feature, the movie looks insane I mean slicing through 20+ nicely rendered enemies at 60fps on PS2? The game looks wonderful. I just shed a Crimson Tear, and how!

Brandon, the game looks shockingly good. An attractive, cutting-edge PS2 game from Sega? OMG APOCALYPSE

I wasn't expecting anything from this game. Its going to be refreshing if I find it to be good myself. So is this game Progressive Scan+Widescreen? (Mix and match or neither of them?)

Note to anyone looking to pick this up at the TRU sale Sunday: they don't have it, at least not yet. Only hit everywhere Friday, I went to one TRU and called another about 2 hours ago, neither had it.

crap. this was sort of the linchpin of my doing the sale. I don't want to pick up a bunch of crap I really don't want because I'm there and I'm trying to fill out my picks.

If you have 2 games you want, pick up those 2 and one game you don't suspect of going down in price, they should let you exchange it later with a receipt.

you know, I did this one year and it was a pain in the ass. I don't know if some people abuse it, but they made it so difficult to exchange something from the sale.

I'll go tomorrow and peek around but I'm going to try to restrain myself from doing the deal just because it's a deal.

Anyone know if there is a way to stack items in inv? As far as I can tell you cannot which us really annoying since you can only carry 50 items and items that are gievn to you stacked are counted as only 1 item.

For example... I have 13 water bottles. They are in my inv like this: watre bottle x5, water bottle x5, water bottle x1, water bottle x1, water bottle x1 so they are taking up 5 spots of my 50. This also happens with keys and fairy dust. Any idea how to fix? Or is this... a feature?

Thats the way it works, it makes stacks of 5x keys more valuable, and stacks of 5x bottles more valuable.

This game was one of the best games I've played last year. (JP version) If you are a diablo fan, then this game is one of the best action rpg's on the ps2 in recent memory.

Can anyone compare this with Untold Legends? I thought that game was fun but it's lack of interesting weapons and creatures made me walk away after I was about 80% done. Does it have rare type weapons that are fun to use, like strange effects or magic? Is there timing on the strikes or do you just keep mashing the button? PSO had a very simple variation of this which made the game more fun for me.

There are a wide variety of weapons, some much rarer than others, and loot is random based on lvl of the mob you are killing i believe. Fighting is mash button... When you get into some giant fights it gets pretty lame actually that you are just mashing the X button. It is better than untold legends... better storyline with more weapons and magic. Bad news is that many mobs are just color variations.

Is it just me or does playing as an ice mage make you really overpowered. Does that change later? I tried making a warrior but it makes the game about 10x more difficult.

Has anyone beaten this yet? Im like 6 hours in and still on chapter 1 as far as I can tell. Just got to the castle where you look for the lost kid.

Just got to a part (after that castle kid part) that is so hard that I basically had to put down the ocntroller for a few days. The game is seriously pissing me off right now.

I am playing as a warrior... I finally made it past the point I was stuck at. I just hit lvl 36 and am doing about 1200dmg per swing with my 2 handed sword.

The 1up.com review was a pleasant surprised... I fully expected this game to get in typical this-gen RPG 7.5 territory - will be picking this up in the TRU deal methinks.

WTF? I play for 2 hours through one of the easiest fucking games in existence, finally become a Force, and now the game becomes IMPOSSIBLE. What the hell?

OK, maybe not impossible, but seeing Meryl go down after 3 hits and having to retreat myself after 5 just to heal is making getting through that Rainbow area VERY unfun.

yea, the balance is a little crazy.

the game is beautiful but the story and voice acting are so bad I want to push pins in my ears. I can't skip past it fast enough.

You can disable voices, no?

Any advice? Is there anywhere I can go to grind some gold, force energy, and experience before hitting up the rainbow plains are whatever they're called?

I know what you mean. The game is easy for the most part, but certain areas and bosses require extreme tact to get through. The only advice I can give is to experiment with the different weapons, or try to tinker around with your force skills.

I'm currently lvl 107 and getting my ass handed to me by some of these optional legion hive bosses. :(

But... I wanna grind levels... :/

Hitting Triangle every minute or three to retreat and heal is boring. :/

Fuck that. Time to see if I can install this on the HDD. Then, bye-bye loads, at least.

Oh shit. You can REFILL the potion bottles at the fountains? I thought they worked like in Diablo, you drink it, it's gone. Well, that'll make things much easier!

:lol
I was trying to figure out why you were having such a problem

Keep an eye out in towns and the like for extra potions, I have 15 now

So, my girlfriend got this for Christmas. She's been playing for a few hours tonight.

WOW THIS GAME FUCKIN ROXXXXXXXXXXXX

After reading the posts from the past 2 days: I played this game on mute. I don't recall a note of the soundtrack, but at least I was saved from that repetitious voice "acting." WTF was Sega thinking?

The soundtrack isn't much worth recalling. Don't worry.

Doesn't sound like the game turned out to be bad at all, aside from the horrendous voice acting.

It's a good point, though - that's one reason I don't make a ton of day one purchases anymore. It's better to get opinions from people once the initial buzz has worn off.
