Shocking elder abuse at nursing home; THIS WILL PISS YOU OFF

Exactly why I’d never put my parents in a nursing home. They will stay with me and I will take care of them. If I have to, I’ll hire a caretaker for them for when I’m at work.

It's painful to see something like that, but life is full of that sort of thing.

I don't want to make excuses for such behavior, but I may provide a bit of a different perspective. You can only give what you posses - both tangibly and otherwise. So many have been given a "gift" of pain, and that's all they have to share, so the pain persists. And that's not accounting for simple mental illness either.

It's very easy to judge and hate, and I get it - for sure. But in most cases, if we knew the full circumstances, we'll usually find that the perpetrator of such violence and harm is only passing on the torch that they've been given. That's why forgiveness is so important. Because if we condemn, we often do so without complete understanding, and we only serve to add to the ledger of pain/anger/hatred, ironically. Sure society/the individual can extract its pound of flesh, but at what cost?

Yeah that is all kinds of made up stuff. The guy was also a patient in the nursing home not working there and he is definitely saying get the fuck off my bed.
Why is a 20 year old a patient in a nursing home? I’m confused as to why he was there. Do nursing homes take young patients too? I’m confused.

It’s your parents, so perhaps a different case. I had my 87-year-old grandmother transferred from a psych ward at a hospital to a nursing home. She only lived two months there, mostly due to preexisting health issues but also due to the acceleration towards death that happens in nursing homes.

Just keep in mind, if you want a choice then you’ll have to prepare. A lot of people seem to think that we dump the elderly in nursing homes because we just don’t want to bother with them. However, while the ideal situation is that the elderly remain lucid and capable even into their late 80s and 90s, the reality is that some will require intensive memory care that just isn’t possible “at home.” Dementia is Hell on Earth.

Without Medicaid, nursing homes cost $10-$12K per person month. It’s not an easy situation for anyone involved. But, there are limits to what you can do with in-home visiting nurses and caretakers, especially if you don’t have guardianship/conservatorship/healthcare proxy and can’t force all the big decisions for your loved one.

In short, we can demonize the elder care system all we want but taking FULL responsibility into your own hands is easier said than done. Just be prepared. Get ahead of it.

If this was a nursing home and he was staff wouldn't he have identification?

We are sure this was a nursing home not a mental hospital and he was a patient?

Why was he there?

I want to punch that guy so badly.

Nursing homes are the final rest for Karen. Once their husband divorces them. Once their kids no longer want anything to do with them. Once they are stripped of their looks and their attitudes piss everyone off instead of most. It's a shame but it's also unfortunately earned. No there will be no manager to help.

This is a message upon the circle of life. At their most vulnerable nobody cares due to decades of bullshit. So treat those friends and family well. Otherwise this cautionary tale becomes a hard reality.

He was in a mental hospital. Got CV and for some stupid reason they sent him to the home. Most likely because of their dummy Governor.

I'm not watching the video. But I know this shit happens farily frequently, unfortunately. Some people are just fucking evil.

Yeah nursing homes are for people who require a nurses care not necessarily the elderly, although young people are generally visibly physically disabled while this guy seemed to have mental issues but was physically fine.

We had shit like this in italy both with eldersand childs.

Just put these people in a water tank with 10 great white shark and let the feast begin.
I am speaking out of anger but i would love for this to happen.

I can't imagine my family or friends being abused like this. I would lose my shit and go apocalyptic on the offender.

Oh I totally understand man. I used to think that Americans just didn’t respect their elderly the way people from third world countries do and that’s why they put them in nursing homes. But if your parent had dementia and needs 24 hour monitoring, sometimes there’s no other choice.

I worked in a care home once... They need to pay staff way more money.

If I'm honest, it was probably the best job I had in terms of job satisfaction and my working day was actually kind of fun but the pay was so awful that you're only going to attract a very low quality of candidates into those positions (like this scumbag).

I only lasted a month because my heart sank when I saw how much money I was taking home each month. If they had paid a living wage I may have stayed in the job as it was actually really rewarding to take care of those that need it the most and I met some really interesting characters.

I agree its probably why where I live 80% of our deaths were in old age homes and we had to send the army to help out.

But this guy didn't work at the home. He was some crazy dude that they sent to this home for some insane reason and then he decided to go and beat on older people.

I worked in elder care for the majority of the last decade through a private company.
Lazy workers and people just their for the pay check aside.....there are some seriously screwed up people in this field, depending on where you work.
How to put this....
You know how it's said that angry cops were people too unhinged or just too shit to be in the military?
You know how it's said that shitty security guards are people too unhinged or just too shit to be a cop?
You know how it's said that the underpaid private security you see acting like they own Target or Walmart are people just flat out too shit to work for public security?
You know that asshole neighbor or friends dad who acts like they own the town and is violent at home because they were so garbage they failed at all the above?
Lots of orderlies, hospice staff and general helping hands fall at a level beneath all of that. And it's mostly because of the lack of folks willing to do the job.

I have....seems some shit. The depths some people will sink to just to take out their anger is sick, to keep it at a word.
