Any word on new PS3 shmups? I'm anticipated for Sine Mora and probably Mamoru-kun.
Nothing yet ;-(

After playing a little bit of Strike Witches the other day I can see that one getting ported down the line.

Apparently Eshchatos is coming with ports of Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins.

Wow, where did this come from?! Not too familiar with these two games (although Judgement Silversword is the game Yes Boss! was talking about a while ago, right?)

At any rate, the more shmups there are on the J-360 the better. March is pretty packed already though! In fact, Q1 2011 is going to be an amazing 3 months for us J-360 owners into niche games.

I still pray to the Konami gods to deliver that Gradius 6 ;D

No new games on my radar, except maybe some NeoGeo Station ones. Though i just bought Last Resort for my actual NeoGeo.

Totally,

Judgement Silversword is amazing. If those two titles are included it instantly makes Eschatos one of the best non-Cave title on J-360 along with RFA, in my eyes. Totally fun with lots of little quick levels. Awesome bosses with swords. It is kinda hard to play cause you need a Wonderswan and some disposable income to buy the game since it is a bit pricey. And Cardinal Sins is even harder to play cause it was download only.

Pretty HOT news!

I better check out Alpha Mission II, also Soldier Blade (shmup that's coming as a PC-Engine classic for the PSP/PS3 this month).

Unfortunately I definitely prefer horishmups on my consoles though (iTouch for vertishmups).

Don't play with my emotions. My heart skips a beat at the mere mention of the possibility. :<

Finally received Platinum Futari 1.5 from PA after 7 weeks.
Can I download replays with Live Silver?
and are my highscores uploaded once I get online ore only scores done while being onlne get upped, thus disqualifing any offline scores I've done?
last but not least why should I pay all that money for Black Label, how much content there is amd is it enjoyable also by who's not uber skilled like myself?

can't wait for Espgaluda II Platinum.
I'm playing DDP Resurrection on my iPad as well, which has just received Gamecenter support, if you wanna add me: Dash Kappei GAF

Yes. You can also upload replays and browse online leaderboards.

I'm not sure, but I think you must be online (and play score attack mode, of course).

It's highly recommended if you're not uber skilled! BL is considerably easier than 1.5. You can 1CC Original mode with little practice (if you play for survival and bomb like hell) and even the infamous God mode looks at least playable, unlike Ultra mode :lol

Content-wise, it's kind of a remix. Same stages, but the enemy placement is different, some bullet patterns are different, your shot if far more powerful and the scoring system has been tweaked a little. There's a new mode (God) that takes place of 1.5 Ultra and uses the same scoring system as Maniac, but taken to the extreme (you can cancel an obscene amount of bullets and the multiplier maxes out at 30.000 instead of 9999). Very fun, if you like the "screen going purple" kind of patterns :D

wasnt gradious 6 cancelled for ps3?

yes, it was canceled years ago, but i'm pretty sure they'll tackle it when dev. costs plummet further. can't abandon what made them big. another hint: GRADIUS ULTIMATE COLLECTION music will be released in two days.

I've started to play Gradius V again, but now on PCSX2. The game looks utterly amazing in HD. Needless to say, but the game is still a timeless classic.

I also tried R-Type Final on PCSX2, runs great and never looked better.

Having a lot of fun with both games.

Pretty interesting - Milestone are porting Karous to the 3DS

http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/1...can-port-an-arcade-a-shooter-to-nintendo-3ds/

Summer release in Japan. Another reason for me to go with a Japanese 3DS!
Are you suggesting Karous is good enough to earn killer app status for a new handheld? Now I've never played that one but I didn't like Radilgy and I'm well aware of Milestone's reputation.

This isn't some Kestui Death Label level announcement.

Awesome, my Gold sub just expired today so this is a blessing :)

AAAARGH! Nooo... damn I hate it when devs do this. I CAN understand why (competitive scene, fear of cheating and all that I suppose), but still it bugs me greatly since I rarely have my consoles online.

Sold! :D
Now to look if it's up on EU Marketplace, I know it is on the US Marketplace.

This. I've wasted money on the DC version, I'll never forgive myself but Border Down was too expensive at the time... man I hate Karous.
I'd kill for Under Defeat/Zero Gunner 2 on XBLA/PSN.
Mars Matrix and Border Down would be the icing on the cake... one can only hope :D

Absolutely not. All I'm saying is that I enjoyed it on the Dreamcast and I'm excited about playing a 3D shmup of any sort.

Yay for firm dates! Need a new version of the Hori stick now.

And happy news on a shooter for the 3DS. Not enough of those made it to the DS in its long and epic life.

Greetings, I was wondering how many hours of Ikaruga dose one play to yield unlimited lives? Credits go up for every hour you play?
Yeah, credits increase every hour you play. After the tenth hour unlimited credits are unlocked.

Eschatos up for preorder at NCS. $77.

I don't know where I am with this one just yet. Certainly the Cave games will be getting my attention and cash first. Looks interesting though.
As someone who just bought judgement silversword and cardinal sins (have not even loaded cardinal on my wonderswan yet, lol) I say it is a must have. You will love it. Very different and unique from most other shooters...though a bit like the old hudson time-attacks. Definitely the most interesting non-Cave title to make it to the system. My most anticipated title outside of Pink Sweets. It will probably get a smallish print run. Go for it! Not too pricey.

Need folks to challenge on the leaderboards!

Damn it, why couldn't you have said it was all crap and not worth it? :P

Small print run sounds accurate. Hmm, it'll probably not be a day/week one as March is ridiculously expensive as it is, but April is kinda light at the minute so I'm sure there's room in my budget for that month for it :)

Ha! No kidding. March will kill us all with the 3DS.

Plus three shooters (Oto, Mamoru, Eschatos)

I'm at like $600 for the month...not including what MarkMan might bring to the table, stickwise. Eek.

I wasn't even counting the 3DS + whatever launch games I pick up! :O

Thankfully I don't think I'll bother with buying Mamoru again as I have it on 360. I'll definitely buy Otomedius and Eschatos later, but not March.

Not counting the 3DS, it looks like a £230 month for me, just sticking to stuff I need day one. There's another £2300 worth of stuff I'll pick up at a later date. Then the 3DS :P

I'm glad April is pretty light at the minute, as it means I can day one Bullet Soul!

As much as I love getting the Cave games, it is the smaller japanese shooter retail releases that always excite me just a little bit more.

Not excited for Otomedius at all...just going through the motions on that one. The series does have a place in my heart as I originally bought my J-360 for the first one with its silly stick. Was kinda hoping on a refresh/reskin of the stick for Excellent but it looks like they went with a lame and useless chair instead. Wondering if the old hyperstick can be used with the new game.

Looks pretty good. I'm liking the multiple difficulties and odd camera angles they're using for some battles. Plus with Judgment Silversword and Cardinal Sins on the disc, it should be a pretty good value.

Also, in the description for the video it says, "This game is released only in Japan, but it will be worldwide-region disc." So I guess that means it's region free.

Eschatos going region free is awesome news! Was interested in this title since the first reveal and now knowing it will come with Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins this will definitely be a day one purchase. The first edition of the game comes with the OST so it is worth preordering.

Loving these region free releases, hope this trend continues.

The price is kind of steep to take the risk on Eschatos, but awesome that it's region free.
I preordered it from AmiAmi, it turned out to be 50 euros + shipping so not too bad. Gotta support these rf releases :)

No risk! The game is going to rock so hard.

Plus Judgement Siversword and its remix a backlight!

Guys, is there a date for G.Rev's Seisō Kōki Strania XBLA game? Wasn't it supposed to come out in 2010?
I was watching the trailer again today and man it totally rocks, plus if it has success it could lead to Under Defeat 2 :D
Also, unrelated, I reckon Psykio has gone under? Who has their catalogue then, Capcom?

last i heard from psikyo they were bought by some shovelware publisher and did that awful ps2 choaniki game (which i own, naturally). so psikyo may still be around, but i doubt they're really psikyo in any meaningful sense

will buy eschaton

Any word on DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Black Label being region free or not? The release day is fast approaching so I assume it won't be. :/

It won't. DFK is the first candidate for a US/EU release. Pink Sweets / MMP is region free because no one would license a compilation of 2 old low-res games that weren't successful even in the arcades (Pink Sweets is probably the worst bomba Cave ever produced).
