Me and my wife didn't have engagement rings, and we didn't have wedding rings until the day before. Mine cost £5 from Half Price Jewellers, hers cost £50. She lost hers 4 months later, and mine sits on the bathroom shelf. Neither of us care. My friend's wife is incredulous that we don't put much importance on these metal bands. Our everyday happy interactions confirm our love for each other.

I find diamonds to be horribly overrated and overpriced (as with many other gemstones) I would much rather have my special someone give me an artistic, original ring- most engagment rings sort of look alike so something really original would be cool,and i'm fine with crystal, its sparkly enuf for me.

I can't imagine why people would spend so much on a ring when it doesn't even come with stat enhancements!!! Its like Everquest, if I buy a ring I want at least +3 Int +3 Agi +3 Bust and -3 Weight -3 Waist in my girl!!
