Show us your RETRO Gaming Setup

That's actually a whopping 21" TV. The amiga 1200 here is running Classic Workbench.

Thanks. I guess :) Now there's an idea. That might be the style I should be aiming for, given the small space. I need to do some image searching.

~20 inches is perfect for retro gaming in my opinion.

So as humble as it is, here's my classic/retro setup. Feel free to point out everything that'S wrong with it (there's tons of stuff that'S bad, it will be a wip for the next few years)

Amiga 1200 Setup, finding a good deal on that Dell U2410 was difficult, but that's one of the very few (good) 15 khz modern monitor since my 1084 has too many aberations now to be really usefull :

Classic consoles, the shelf is temporary but will satisfy my needs for the coming months :

32" Panasonic Tau CRT :

Less "classic" systems and my Pioneer reciever :

Game shelves. Everything is two rows deep, need to find a solution for that :

Carts I still have to find a spot for. Don't have a heart attack guys at how I treat them :( :

Storage (no idea what to do with all that for now) :

My main PC gaming desk with portables (3DS, Vita, Tablets and GPD XD), also under the desk where I store controllers, plastic guns and so on) :

Anyway advices are welcome and sorry for the long post ;-)

Nice Wondermega.

Is that a LCD monitor that supports 15 KHz? Do you use some kind of adapter to go from Amiga to VGA?

I can't help with console organization because I'm still working on that myself. My setup is basically whatever was on sale at Ikea. This is my biggest pain-point. I'll probably end up doing something similar to you actually for my spill-over consoles.

I paid like 30$ for it back in 2003 best ebay purchase I made ;-) (Came with about 15 SCD games, a japanese MD2 and 30 or so carts)

I did plenty of research before settling on the DELL U2410. It's not the best LCD monitor accepting the 15khz signal sent by the Amiga but it'S the best one available in north america and not sold by Nec at exhorbitant prices.

The best monitor (if you're in Europe) is actually made by BenQ, it's the BenQ BL902A (it's a 5:4 LCD screen with a perfect aspect ratio for the Amiga).

And yes, I just use a DB23 to VGA adapter from Amigakit

I just seek them out.
I think it's interesting to have them.
They give a unique feel to the collection.

Do you have any devkits?

If you have the space and want to go crazy, set up a fake office desk with a CRT monitor, an old Dell, a devkits, and a bunch of debug games.

I have a few consoles (Xbox, PS2, PS3, Wii RVT-H and Wii RVT-R) and games.
But now I don't have space for your idea.

Thanks!

I need a way to display debug/previews/reviews copies of games but I have no idea on how to do it.
I don't know what kind of shapes yours have, but I use these to display individual games, maybe you could use something similar?

They are all CDs/DVDs. There are a few promo items that have different sizes but there isn't a lot of them.
I think this would be the best way but it takes a lot more space than I would want.
I will try to find those supports here in Brazil but I never saw them anywhere here.
Thanks eXistor!

I've dreamed this up a long time ago, and finally had it custom built:

Each drawer is in fact a sliding shelf with a collapsing front.

Depending on what I want to use, I open that drawer and slide it out:

On the side, there are "real" drawers, for storing accessories:

The big door has a slightly transparent glass:

:D

Oh man, I need that shelving system.

^ This one is epic ! :)

and that pull out shelf one is brilliant, never seen that before but it's a great idea!

Likewise. In a lighter wood colour given my wife (and I, I guess) are going for a mid-century European look in our house, but functionality-wise that cabinet is perfect.

You're all too kind! I've been thinking long about the neatest and easy-to-use way to set a bunch of consoles simultaneously, and I am pretty happy with how it turned out! )

Here's mine, I don't have much space but hey :)

When I first moved into my house and didn't have everything shipped over yet, all I had was my SNES and a CRT, just like this. I really enjoyed not having clutter everywhere and was able to just relax and play games sitting on the floor like when I was a kid.

SNES off to the left. NES on top of the TV., which sits on top of an old Nintendo chest. Genesis and Dreamcast and the games and accessories on the Tardis shelf.

I also have a PS1, 2, and original Xbox but those are sitting next to the X1, and PS3 and 4 on the HD tv.

Used to have an N64 and games but sold them cause it aged really really poorly IMO and I never planned to use it.

Me:

"Wife, so I wanna set my old gaming stuff up in the office..."

Then we file for divorce.

To me, exposed wires and messiness just adds to the charm.

See? That's what I call charming :)

I've got a pretty small setup. I've consolidated my systems as much as I can.

My Wii doubles as my GC and the PS3 is a 60GB BC model. My Super Famicom is hooked up via HD Retrovision's component cables and my TV is capable of handling 240p over componenet (and they look great, with no lag). I moved my PS1 games into DVD cases so they'll fit better on the shelf.

So glad my thread is still alive and well. Some amazing setups in here. I'm in the process of setting up a new games room so will have to update the OP soon

How do you like the AVS? I've been very tempted to pick one up and have read/seen great reviews on it. Nice setup btw!

I absolutely love it. Combine it with the wireless NES adapters that 8bitdo made it and it's, IMO, the best (outside of an AnalogNT or HDMI NES mod) and most accessible way to play NES games on an HDTV.

I'd love to share some photos, but I'm still a "junior member", so if a mod see this message, a little help, please ? :)

I don't think it matters if you're a junior member. Just upload your images to a service like imgur and enclose the URL in img tags like this without the spaces after [

I tried, but something repleaced some characters in the link with asterisks so the link became unusable.

Thank you guys :)

SO I've added new shelves in my bedroom for my retro games (+ DS/3DS/Vita games)

Consoles are there, but I might change the furniture soon (it's a little bit too long to fit in that place) so I'll take a picture of them another time.

I'll post some closer pics later.

Oh damn. I've been looking for wireless controllers and this will fit the bill! Yeah, I think I may get the AVS. Thanks for the feedback!
