SimCity 5? Is Maxis working on it?

I was cleaning out my closet over the weekend and stumbled across the install CDs for SimCity 4 and got to thinking how awesome this seris has been. (Well I wasn't a huge fan of SimCity 3000, but the original, 2000 and 4 were just the bees knees.) It's been awhile since 4 hit, and it has even been awhile since the last expansion hit for SimCity 4 as well.

So that got me thinking that it was about time for news to be hitting about SimCity 5 soon.. but after a few searches i was unable to turn up anything.

So GAFFERs, any news?

And baring any real news, is there anything you guys would be looking forward to in a SimCity 5?

Release Sim City 5 for Rev.

Boy, if that happened (in lieu of or before a PC release) we would know that PC gaming is truly dead.

Anyway, you can just play this classic on your Rev instead

I remember the music in this being so relaxing...

I want a fully 3D Sim City that doesn't go overboard with the complexity (or at least have selectable levels of complexity) - wasn't too big a fan when Sim City started to have you manage the water pipe system. And also the ability to "walk" on the city streets in a first person view.

I heard Will Wright is originally from Atlanta - probably the reason why he invented a game about city planning :lol

I don't like playing games like that with standard controls. :(

I think Spore is next (along with more Sims 2 expansions).

I think they may want to take their time with Sim City 5 as to not have a repeat of the Sim City 4 release where its system requirements were much too steep for a Sim City game at the time.

Man SimCity SNES was awesome, I remember playing that to death. I think that was my first real introduction to SimCity, then my Uncle had SimCity 2000 on his PC, and... well hey now that I think about it.. SimCity 2000 was probably my first PC gaming experience. Kick ass.

While I have no qualms with a revolution version, I wonder how precise the control would be. I just remember having a helluva time laying down roadways in SimCity 4 and that was with a mouse! Either way I'd like to see it hit the PC eventually even if it did come out for a console first.

But no one has heard any info on a SimCity 5 yet? I was afraid that Maxis was working strictly on Sims stuff. Perhaps some aspects of Spore will play like SimCity?

:: sigh :: Still I'd rather have a full blown sequel with additional features. I remember they were originally going to put in SimCity 3000 the ability to micromanage the individual business so you could try and foster the upper class neighbor hoods by changing the price structure on a store by store basis. (Kind of like an uber version of the Commercial districts, and allowing you to change the zoning on the fly.)
