"According to Yahoo news, a Simpsons feature film is now in preproduction. In TFA, Nancy Cartwright is quoted as saying "We've just done the table read for The Simpsons movie, so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production . . ." Also from TFA: "'They are working on hammering out a script, but there's no title or production date or release date,' studio spokeswoman Antonia Coffman told E! Online Wednesday. 'We always wanted the show to end first but it just keeps going. Now they've worked out a team to simultaneously do [both the film and show].'""

Finally. :)

IF they got Brad Bird , Conan O Briend and all the old writers together for a super script.....maybe, otherwise *yawn*.

I think most of the voice actors recognize the show has become no better than your choice of any 2nd rate WB sitcom.

Eh...1st Rate WB Sitcom. It can even, on its good days, reach the level of good sitcoms. The reality is that the problem has been purely in the writing of the show and the craptacular stories...bringing in the writers from the earlier seasons and I think this can be done right.

Why? Because they're not trying to cram a story into 22 minutes. They can have character arcs. The show has become a sitcom; no character development or anything of that nature. I think that the Simpsons can only be good when they're writing 7-Minute segments where they can be all gimmick but in a shorter burst, long segments where they have a time to flesh out a story, or when an anomaly occurs and an episode comes together. I think that, with enough time, they can create a really good film. It will never be perfect...but I have some faith.

never forget

the simpsons has no place on the big screen. what the heck? who would pay for this? there are what? 20 seasons now? you can watch it everyday on reruns. no need for a movie.

I think seeing the Simpsons on the big screen would be incredible.
Nevermind how bad the show has gotten or how bad the movie could be, seeing all the characters on the big screen in a theater would be awe-inspiring.

I mean, we all grew up with the Simpsons. If they could tap that nostalgic feeling, it might even be good..

Of course, they'll probably just load it up with cameos.

I remember thinking South Park had lost it and the movie would be the final twitch of the unfunny corpse and then the movie ended up being a trillion times better than the show was before or since. Tough to imagine it happening again, but I hope a Simpsons movie at least captures most of the former glory.

As long as they follow the mantra South Park has created, World altering storyline, lots of huge hilarious musical numbers...it should be good.

Better than the Halo movie anyway.
