I don't know if hey do it in America, but the first versions of the Simpsons boxsets are flip-out, and then later they release a cheaper version which has a similar outer casing, but 2 DVD cases inside it.

They did this in Germany and I'm pretty annoyed at it because I bought the first three seasons at full price and I prefer the "cheaper" design with the DVD cases.

I kinda like season ten. The real shark jumping, imo, is season 11 with the horrible Mel Gibson episode (very first of the season too i believe).

Still a few good one after though. Behind the laughter and A tale of two Springfield comes to mind

I'm going to guess, based on the case's squared shape, that the box design hasn't actually changed and that is instead a plastic casing that fits over the regular-sized boxset. Special "first-run" cases seem to have become the standard among DVD publishers recently.

I was tempted to make a thread about this but I clearly missed this one. Dodged a bullet there.

While it is nice boxart, I do hope that a normal box is encased in Homer's Head. I like it and all, but I'd rather have them all match. Still, looking throught my big Simpsons book with episode summaries, Season 6 has some CLASSICS. I'm currently going through Season Two right now (Filling out the collection) and it's amazing how many good ones are there, even. I also have all of Season One to go through which will keep me occupied.

i dont know about you but when i buy dvd's i watch the dvd's. i think its good that they changed it up. i mean you can only alter the original boxes so many ways. im open to seeing new boxes

Heh, that's kinda neat now that I see how they executed all of it. Besides, if they're going exclusively with that style case from that season on, it's not like you will have a break--then a return in the design of your collection.

I'm just wondering what kind of cases actually house all of the DVDs...it seems like it's just a little paper thing with the jewel case things attached...seemed flimsy.

I think it looks fine and well executed, I really just wish they were a bit more consistent. I still think they should have put a regular box in the head.

Me too The new design sucks. It looks cheap and tacky, and the disc holders looks horribly cheap. I really like the fold-out Simpsons cases. Why change something that works fine?

But since it's the only way to see this series then I'll have to accept it...

I just got mine from CDWOW this morning. Jesus Christ...this thing looks horrible! This is the cheapest, tackiest plastic I've ever seen in my life! I'm tempted to take the discs out and just throw the case away because it looks so shit

Inside is a cardboard outline of Homer's head, with four plastic disc holders on the inside...very cheap and nasty tbh

I got to handle the box set at Best Buy during lunch and its even chintzier in real life. A Simpsons box set is something that's meant to be passed around and shared, but I'm certain one of Homer's eyes will get scratched or banged up in just minutes when its not on a shelf.
