Sipeed Tang Retro Gaming Console Review; tiny size, big ambitions...plentiful stumbles

Maybe you've heard about Sipeed and their FPGA boards or just now starting to ship Sipeed Tang Retro Gaming Console, a "cost effective" FPGA console that has cores for NES/SNES/GBA/Master System/Genesis...or maybe you will hear about it soon

Interesting concept, attractive price, very odd form factor with compromises and some very interesting performance quirks

But new hardware deserves a review right? Maybe a skip

This one seemed sketchy from the jump, I didn't know the release was close.

Thanks for the video and the skip recommendation!
I wouldn't use the word "sketchy" as Sipeed is a company that delivers the products they make. Sketchy makes me think "might not arrive"

I'd more say "incomplete" as far as a product is concerned

Fair enough! I should have said "rushed". With Mister Pi as successful as it was, this entry makes sense but didn't expect some of the issues you pointed out in the video.

It has all the vibes of having been concepted and starting development before MiSTer Pi was announced and suddenly the "$100 Tang vs $400 MiSTer" became "$100 Tang vs $170 MiSTer"

Really? I didn't know it has been in development for that long.

Maybe I am thinking of the IMtech board?

Thank you for taking the time (and expense) to make the video! Saved me some cash!!

There's no point to a FPGA board that doesn't run Aria of Sorrow perfectly, dead on arrival. May as well be using Visual Boy Advance
