Yeah, because this is the exact same, and we can apply the same principle of leaf colour to the colour of people's skin, due to the fact that people don't care about others' skin colour like a colour of a leaf...oh wait a minute, yes they do!

Not all racism is intentional, hostile, hateful, or extreme. Subtle implications that one race is the default and everyone else is an "other" is exactly the kind of racism that needs to be called out. Everyone knows the Ku Klux Klan is shitty, but this subtle stuff potentially affects more people and is more likely to be minimized in conversations about racism.
The solution is also incredibly easy.

I remember reading a Japanese sensitivity training manual that suggested people use 桃色 instead of 肌色 to refer to that color. I don't remember the name of the manual/book, it's been over 8 years. This isn't new or exclusively occidental.
