GBA: 2.5 million
PS2: 1.7 million
Xbox: 1.3 million
Nintendo DS: 850,000
Gamecube: 500,000

Xbox/PS2 sales are kind of a toss-up. The GBA and GC did not sell out across the nation, but the other three did. Just depends who shipped more units. I believe MS may not have been prepared for this kind of demand... But then again, Sony is... Sony. They love this shit.

Since I won't be around from Wednesday on and Bunkum's banned, I hope you guys find a way to get some numbers. DataWhore hasn't posted them for a while, Ubisoftologist will be able to get the Wedbush report with top 10's (or is it top 5's now?), if you go to yahoo you'll get the top numbers for the American companies (ATVI, ERTS, TTWO, MWY, THQI).

Also, I find out an error in my initial post. Where I had ?? for the number of titles in December that sold over 100k last year, it should have read 113 :O :O

So, let the games begin. Feel free to copy any sales into this thread from past prediction threads that will help make reasonable predictions.

I'd wait for actual numbers as ever to be totally sure. But yes, that sounds about right, but it's always dangerous to assume too much from a few random press-releases (although they are pretty close to my predicitions, so I don't mind!!)

Those were based on Microsoft's estimates based off of thier communications w/ retailers.

NPD's numbers will be somewhat different, although they may mirror those numbers somewhat as I do expect Xbox to take the lead for consoles.

The Halo 2 numbers arent as easy to figure as well. We dont know about last month when MS reported 5 million units sold in November if that was all of November or through the NPD reporting period of November 27th.

The following is a brief preview of Dec sales by Anthony Gikas of Piper Jaffray & Co.:

HOLIDAY 2004 RECAP: We estimate retail sales of video game software increased 5%- 10% during December, supporting our CY04 10%-12% growth estimate. Sales growth in Europe/U.K. (8%-10%) will likely fall slightly short of U.S. growth rates. Post-holiday channel checks reveal strong sales at mass merchant and specialty retailers. We expect gift card recipients and post-holiday SW & HW launches will drive solid sales trends into early 2005.

DEC/JAN QTR EXPECTATIONS: We expect ERTS [EA], THQI [THQ], and TTWO [Take-Two Interactive] to report in-line financial results. We expect ATVI [Activision] to report in line with its 12/16 prerelease. We think ELBO [Electronics Boutique] and GME [Gamestop] experienced strong sales of new and used software, but fell short in terms of hardware sales due to manufacturer shortages. We think ELBO and GME earnings are intact for the January quarter.

The news of PS2 selling under a million certainly makes that a LOT more likely. It depends on how much DS hurt GBA sales, though.
