Some idiots have far more money then sense. Or could have been Gahigiddy.

I don't know... it's kind of funny. I'll at least check out the video.

Don't get me wrong, it's retarded, and I would never personally do it, but I have to admit that the prospect of seeing the looks on people's faces as some asshat destroys a $400 console in front of their faces after they've been waiting in line for 18 hours to buy one is kind of funny.

...if you're 12. Behaving like a child screaming for attention is not funny at all.

Yeah because that wouldn't have better served a home of sick or dying children, who wuold love to play something or anything while wating for their next chemo treatment.

If he collected 430 bucks and the retard pack was $299, then why did he need 430? what a freakin' scam, what did he need the other 131 for? bus fare?

Oh come on now... I never understand those political comics in the NYT so this is all I have left.

I think the DS is the only one that doesn't have something like this...

The PSP one was painful to watch. The US launch was so far away at the time.

Think of the Xbox itself.

"Yippeee! I'm ready to get out the box...bring me sunshine...bring my PG3...bring me....(gulp)...why is that nice man holding a mallet? Ohh nooossss!"

It's just materialistic goods. You fools need to get a hold of yourself.

How sad that you attach so much meaning to a white box.

it's not the white box ass, it's the fact that he took peoples money (who are even more retarded for donating) to buy an xbox (which also has quite the shortage) and destroy it for his gain, whilst he could even have done something better with the money, charity etc, it makes me sick

Read the faq on the site. Here's one hint, he's Canadian.

See, this whole "he could have given it to charity!" argument is ridiculous. ANYTHING you buy aside from food, clothing, and housing, could be given to charity. Everything else is a luxury.

If you bought a 360, YOU could have donated that money to charity and done something better with it.

"But wait!" you say, "He took money and just destroyed something! There was no gain! At least I'd be enjoying my 360!" Irrelevant. Number one, people donated because the concept entertained them. Smashmyxbox.com provided a service. They are providing an entertaining video for people to watch. It took some money to produce that entertainment. Second, buying that Xbox has helped to secure profits for Microsoft and also to ensure job creation in the future.

So in a roundabout way, Smashmyxbox hired a man and fed his family. You should feel guilty for trashing them.

the fact that he basically throws away a bunch of money that could have been used for good, really bothers me.

Good for you. I get wasted every weekend and support the local bar economy. Are you really any better than me?

I'm not talking about charity alone, but the money, whoever had it, donated it etc could have put it to better use, and so seeing a movie of a smashed up console is entertainment? What kicks do people get out of that? and how the heck can it take some money to produce that entertainment? they probably already had a video camera, all the had to do was get an Xbox, smash it, video tape it then upload it on the web.

I don't see how you can condone it, unless you're just like them. Go watch more things being smashed up dude, it's FUN!!

Yeah it's entertainment. Millions of people paid money to watch Steve-O staple his nutsack to his leg in the Jackass movie. You may be "above" such elementary humor, but not everbody is. As long as the market is there, entrepreneurs will be there to facilitate it.

And apparently it costs $430 to produce the movie.

I remember when people used to pay 5 dollars to watch two starving hobos fight to the death, with nothing other than rolls of newspaper as their weapons, but this... THIS... THIS is despicable.

lol, yeah right, 430 to produce the movie? Don't be silly, look at the other sites, smashmyrevolution, shashmyps3 etc, he talks about the actual prices of the consoles and if they go higher, he'll ask for more money, and I didn't say I was above that did I? I enjoy Jackass, I'm a fan, but that's the wrong comparison

He's Canadian, it cost his 430 dollars to purchase the console. It looks like he netted about 35 bucks of "profit" for this stunt from overdonations. In all honesty, he probably spent more than that on web hosting.

You seem to think this guy is making money hand over fist for this. It sounds like he's just trying to cover the costs of putting it on the web.

It's really not about him taking the money, about the fact that he purchased a console and smashed just to cure people's sick needs of seeing a console being smashed, people are struggling to even get a console yet this moron gets one and smashes it.

I think you've pinpointed exactly why some people find this funny. If we've learned anything from America's Funniest Home VIdeos, it's that people enjoy seeing other people in pain, physical or mental -- it doesn't matter.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree... this guy could have spent that money in a lot of worse ways.

Destroying working hardware is fucking stupid IMO.

I haven't even seen the video or anything, but the mere thought of this is just so fucking lame IMO.

I think its a rather nice commentary on how much importance people are placing on a fucking video game console.

No one needs a 360, and if people want to see one destroyed, then there you go. It's there for your viewing pleasure.
I think you're pretty warped in the head to find these people sick.

Plus, for fuck's sake you fools, it's one goddamn 360. They're gonna make more.

Sorry imo it's just a dumb waste, kinda like your favorite singer saying save the music and then breaking a brand new guitar on stage.

again, it's not about the fact that it's a video game console, rather than the principle of it but for them it's obviously about the video game console itself, it being destroyed and Haleon, yeah we can agree to disagree.

right, I'm warped, sure.

To get all uppity about this? People got a laugh, a few folk are out a couple of bucks, and the world is less one 360. Nothing terrible has occurred here.

I find it wrong, I don't find it funny, that's my view, it might be warped to you the way I find the people's view sick on that but it's my view, so don't really expect me to change that. Again, I don't care for the fact that it's a console, but some guy creates a total network and asking for people's donations, I obviously think that's just wrong.

I just don't see what you can even find wrong with it. Asking for donations is wrong? They knew exactly what they were donating to, knew exactly what they were going to get out of it, and still put their money towards it. Dude doing it didn't even seem to profit greatly from it. Like I said, net result of this is a few people are out a few bucks, some laughed, some cried and a 360 is gone. That's all.
